Edrock200 53 Posted September 15, 2024 Posted September 15, 2024 (edited) I have emby set to generate and sideload bifs. I've noticed two things and wondering if this is expected behavior or perhaps a setting I have incorrect. 1. If a bif generates for an item, and let's say that item was wrong and it's replaced with the same media filename, the bif doesn't regenerate, even though the file hash/size/modify data has changed. 2. If an item is updated, e.g. 720p to 1080p, a new bif is generated but the old bif remains. Is there any automated way within emby to address these 2 scenarios? Thanks in advance, Ed Edited September 15, 2024 by Edrock200

Edrock200 53 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 No. If it upgrades same resolution, file name stays the same. If it upgrades different resolution, filename changes. However in the case of same file name, bif doesn't update. E.g. if it was an incorrect episode match, then later corrected.
Solution Luke 42079 Posted September 19, 2024 Solution Posted September 19, 2024 Ok yes if the file name doesn’t change then it is not refreshed unless you delete the bif. While it probably should be, this is primarily a safe guard to avoid regenerating it in situations where it wouldn’t be necessary. 1
