Emby Keeps Picking Up Random Trailers Instead of Movies

Hey everyone,

I’ve been having an issue with my Emby server where it randomly plays trailers instead of the actual movie, even when I click "Play Movie" (and not "Play Trailer").

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

• Using the Emby Trailers plugin
• Manually adding trailers (both in the same directory as the movie and in a subfolder)

The weird thing is that my setup works perfectly fine on both Jellyfin and Plex, so I don’t think it’s a naming or file organization issue.

Some details:

• Emby Server version: 4.8.8.0
• Running on: UnraidOS (latest version)

I’ve attached my log file below, and in it, you can see that I started playing movies at 2024-09-04 22:28:03.677. Strangely, if I exit and re-enter a movie twice, it eventually plays the correct file.

Has anyone experienced something like this or have any suggestions? I'd appreciate any help!

Did you enable Cinema Mode on server and per client playback settings?

Hi, I did enable both Cinema Intros and Cinema mode on server side and client side. Furthermore, Emby pick up trailers from other movies but not the one i'm playing. And even though the movie already have custom Trailer downloaded, if I click play trailer button, it play trailer from youtube.

That is the point of Cinema Mode you are telling Emby to pick two random trailers to play before your movie or episode.

So what is the correct setting if I want it to play my custom trailer only if I clicked trailer button?

There isn't one the trailer button if for playing that specific movies local or url trailer.  Cinema mode is to randomly play trailers before the movie.

So what is the point of having custom trailers? Because I want high quality Trailer instead of youtube blurry one.

What are you calling custom trailers?  Are the setting you have enabled not self explanatory?  It will pick two from these enabled conditions.

Internet trailers:

• Include trailers from new and upcoming movies
• Include trailers from older movies

 

• Include trailers from movies in my library

Thank you, I removed Cinema Intros plugin and everything is fine now, Thank you for taking your time with me.

You also could have just disabled the cinema intros feature. Glad your issue is resolved now.
