Maximum streams reached when switching channels

Brand new to EMBY. Running Emby in a docker container on unraid. I am having two separate issues, one with the player, and one with the roku app. Issue with the player. I have an iptv provider and EPG configured. I am having an issue with switching channels When I start up Emby, (on the web app) I can select a channel and watch it fine. When I back out of that channel using the arrow at the top left to go back to the guide, then select a new channel, I get the error "Playback Error m3u simultaneous stream limit has been reached." I understand that I am only allowed one stream, but I don't understand why it sees this as a second stream. I believe I have attached the proper log files.

If you set your simultaneous stream limit in the server to 2 does it work okay?

Thank you for your response. I'll have to check that this evening when I get back home.

Let us know how you get on. Thanks.

I changed it to 2 stream limit. I can switch between channels on the web browser (interface for emby/settings) When I try to switch channels on my phone, I get the same limit error

Now I can no longer change channels on the web player

I set max streams to 0 and that seems to have resolved the issue. I can change channels on the web and on my phone. I think this one is solved for now.

I will look into this. There may be some timing issues here. Will see if it relates to how quickly one switches channels

So far I am unable to reproduce this with Live TV OTA DVR channels and server maximum number of streams set to 2. Using Emby for iOS 2.29.2 (1) beta for the tests with the server on 4.8.8.

How about with it set to 1?

Same - switching channels from the Guide on Emby iOS 2.2.29(1) and Emby Server 4.8.8 did not give an error.

Whilst streaming a channel on emby IOS, attempt to also stream from Emby Web gave the error as expected.

I will try with the standard release of the Emby iOS app

same in my tests. Running now on App Store Emby for iOS 2.2.28 on iPhone and Emby Server 4.8.8 on windows streaming Live TV DVR OTA channels with max streaming set to 1. No errors when selecting a channel from the guide and after it starts streaming, using the back arrow to exit and switching to another current program from another channel in the guide.

I will have a look at the logs provided by @crusemm

Try switching to an other channel via the OSD!

can you clarify exactly what you mean. I was doing these tests on the Emby for iOS app on an iPhone.

I also now did some tests on the Roku Emby App and selecting channels from the guide or channels list and then clicking on "Tune to channel" and was ok

Could you enable Debug Logging on the Emby Server in Server Settings for Logs. Set the "Max simultaneous video streams" in Server Network settings to 1. Restart the server with debug logging to be set to remain enabled.

Then use an iPhone or Roku app to stream a channel and then switch to another channel and if you get the error, please collect all the log files covering the period from the launch of the emby server

Thanks

@crusemmHi,

Just a reminder to post the logs when you get a chance.

Thanks,
