Edrock200 53 Posted September 2, 2024 Posted September 2, 2024 (edited) I am migrating from one storage solution to another. To achieve this, I mergerfs'd the old storage path and new storage path together into the same path emby has for media. I'm using rclone to move the data from old storage to new storage, but with mergerfs, the file, path, etc. all remain the same. I am using the metadata flag so that permissions and time stamps remain identical. However, based on the logs, emby still seems to be ffprobing every copied file again during full library scans. I ran a checksum on a file that emby ffprobed again on the old path file and new path file and they are identical. My Plex server using the same path doesn't appear to be flagging the copied files as "changed." Is there some other attribute that emby is looking at? How does emby determine if a file is the same or changed? Thanks in advance for any insight. Edited September 2, 2024 by Edrock200
Solution Luke 42079 Posted September 2, 2024 Solution Posted September 2, 2024 HI, Emby Server looks at the date modified timestamp of the files, as well as nfo files if you have those. 1
Edrock200 53 Posted September 2, 2024 Author Posted September 2, 2024 (edited) That's probably it then. The NFO files may have regenerated. Thank you! Edited September 2, 2024 by Edrock200 1
Edrock200 53 Posted September 6, 2024 Author Posted September 6, 2024 One more question. Is it possible for an emby full scan to backslide? Been checking on a full scan. I turned off scheduled scans and kicked off a full to let it get through one cycle before turning the schedule back on. It was at 94.4%. I just checked again and it's at 92.9%.

Happy2Play 9781 Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Without parsing the log it is really hard to say but I have never seen a scan backslide but have seen a scan finish and another start in an endless loop for hours as I was editing media outside of Emby.
