Disable thumbnail generation?

I'm testing out Emby and added a few movies but I noticed it's creating thumbnails for movies which is extremely intensive with FFMPEG going nuts and taking forever. The setting Generate video preview thumbnails is disabled and has never been enabled since install.

Can you go over a specific example.  But will need to see server log for an example of the issue you are seeing.  But ffmpeg/ffprobe will be done against every item to get media info.

Wiping the library and starting over again seemed to solve some issues but if it can't find metadata online for something it will still generate a thumbnail. Is there any way to just disable that feature globally? I suppose I could just delete ffmpeg or restrict permissions on it but I'd guess that could cause issues.. I'm not interested in transcoding either.

Would need to see library setting but sounds like you have image capture enable as that is the last resort if no online source is found. (per library settings)

Thanks that option was checked and disabling it did seem to help. ffprobe is running still but I'm guessing that's just for video length, audio, etc.

Yes Emby must probe all media to get media info to know how to play the media if Emby does not get media info you will get "No compatible streams are currently available".

I'm using an external player but it doesn't seem to take very long so it's not a big deal.
