santafexao 2 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 Hello I'm experiencing difficulties playing videos on my new LG TV using the Emby app. The video stops playing every minute without warning. Can you assist, please? santafexao 2 Posted August 19, 2024 Author Posted August 19, 2024 Hello, just had an updated of the Emby app for this LG TV and it is even worse. However, everything works perfectly on my bedroom amazon fire-stick, as usual. It’s just the app for the TV.

santafexao 2 Posted August 19, 2024 Author Posted August 19, 2024 Hello See the files attached. However, the main server log is too large (364MB), and not able to upload it. Looking at the segments in server log they look like they are stuck in a loop. Hello, Thanks for your reply. I've had these video clips in my daughter's playlist for a while. They're still playing perfectly fine through my Emby server on the Emby app on her iPad, Amazon Fire Stick, and my wife's Samsung Galaxy 23 using the Emby app. The issue is most likely with the Emby app for those LG TVs. I can post more log files if needed. thanks 1
SamES 1057 Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Are you happy to PM a link to me to download one of those files for testing? '4-TOWN - Nobody Like U.mp4' or another similar one that has problems.

SamES 1057 Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 I don't really have any ideas on this. I was able to play '4-TOWN - Nobody Like U.mp4'. As was the case in your logs, this needed to directstream as it had trouble with the container, but after that playback was fine without any issues.. I am running the beta server, but I don't think that will cause any differences, generally the ffmpeg logs compared to yours look identical. I can see a lot of other activity in your server log. Can you try testing this file again when there isn't any other devices connected or other server activity? Can you test playback of a file on another device, but force it to transcode by dropping the quality in the playback settings on the device? I'm curious to see if this is an LG specific issue, or if it's related to transcoding/remixing activity. Maybe your transcoding-temp disk (which I notice is also your system disk) is having issues. If you also have a windows pagefile on the same disk then you might be hitting disk I/O limits, especially if it is a spinning disk and not an SSD. Even worse if there is memory swapping going on at the same time. It might be better to use a non-system disk as a transcoding-temp folder (not a network disk either). I did notice that writing of your temp files took nearly 4-5 times longer than my system which might indicate an I/O issue

I did notice that writing of your temp files took nearly 4-5 times longer than my system which might indicate an I/O issue Hello, Thank you for your reply. I returned the TV for a replacement (same model) due to issues with the external source port. However, the new TV also has the same issue when playing MP4 video clips on the latest Emby app for LG TV. All the files I am sharing on the provided link freeze when playing on this LG TV's Emby app, and they are all MP4 files. Regarding your suggestions: 1. "Can you try testing this file again when there aren't any other devices connected or other server activity?" - I did, and they all froze and gave errors. 2. "Can you test the playback of a file on another device but force it to transcode by dropping the quality in the playback settings on the device?" - I tried on other devices (Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max streaming device – Emby App Version 2.1.1a and version 3.4.16; iPad 6th generation - Emby V2.2.28; 8 years old LG WebOS TV LF630V – Emby version 1.044), and they all play these clips perfectly fine without forcing it to transcode. However, on this replaced LG TV (LG WebOS TV OLED55G45LW), when forced to transcode by dropping the quality in the playback, it worked just fine indeed, but only at 720p downwards (very poor qualities). 3. "If you also have a Windows page file on the same disk then you might be hitting disk I/O limits, especially if it is a spinning disk and not an SSD." - Yes, the Windows page file is on the same disk. It’s the Samsung SSD860. 4. "It might be better to use a non-system disk as a transcoding-temp folder (not a network disk either)." - How do I do this? ################################ I have now solved the problem by converting all the video clips to MKV files. They are all working fine, directly playing and in maximum qualities. If no one else is having problems playing MP4 files on this television, I can close this topic. Thank you very much for your support. You guys are amazing.
Solution SamES 1057 Posted September 2, 2024 Solution Posted September 2, 2024 Thanks for the update. Converting to mkv so that they DirectPlay is a good approach.
