remove or blacken screen between shuffled videos

I'm using emby to serve a video collage project involving a lot of very short videos (1-30 seconds) that I shuffle. This works pretty well, however, emby puts a dark grey screen between each video, at least on WebOS and Chrome. Is there a way to make the videos play seamlessly, or if that's not possible, is it possible to make the dark grey screen fully black, or replace it with a predetermined video or library of videos (for example, playing a tv static video between each video would be cool too.)

HI, that is just the background of the video player. When one video ends and the next is loading, you won't see any video during that time. Does that answer your question?

Thanks Luke, that makes sense. Is it possible to change the background to black, or to eliminate the short period between videos?

It is black already. Can you show a screenshot example? Thanks.

image.thumb.png.839ab8510fd5e91347e91dc298b95021.pngIts a very dark grey. I added a black scribble in the top right to show contrast. It looks close to black, but its obvious that its not if you are showing short videos that contain a lot of black (such as vertical video on a TV, which puts two large black bars on the sides) especially if the display has true blacks.

Do you have any backdrops configured? You could upload a black backdrop and that is what will show between each item.

Is that the entire screen?

Yes. You can see the bottom of my address bar at the top, and the top of my task bar at the bottom. It looks the same if its full screened, and it looks the same (well, it also has a very dark grey, hard to tell if its the same color, but probably is) on WebOS, as well as, I believe, firestick and android.

If it helps, I've been using emby on WebOS, and occasionally on PC through Chrome browser for at least a year and a half, and this behavior has been consistent the entire time.

Edit: Just tested on an old Roku TV we have around, Roku's behavior is a little different. You do get a black screen, but with a loading spinner and the clock on the top right. I don't care too much about how this works on roku (really, I care most about WebOS for LG TVs) but that behavior doesn't really work for me either. In fact, I think it might be a little worse because that's a lot busier than a solid, very dark grey screen.

I don't see the backdrops between videos, or anywhere else, at least not on WebOS (LG TV), Chrome (PC), or Roku. I might have seen them on Android TV? But I'm not sure. I do have a custom backdrop set, though. I see the backdrop when I hover over the library in the "My Media" section in Roku, and nowhere else.

Do you have "Enable backdrops" turned on under Display settings? This should work for all library types but I was testing with one of my shows and I replaced the season backdrop image with something random and while waiting for the video to play or going to the next episode that is the backdrop that I saw.

You can also try setting your theme to Black instead of Dark.

I did not have that option set, thank you. However, even after setting it (and exiting and rentering the WebOS app) I still don't see the backdrop between videos. I have a backdrop set for the whole library, though. Does it need to be set for each video? Unfortunately, that's not feasible as I have a very large number of videos.

Thanks! This worked for getting it to go to black! Would be cool if the backdrops worked, but this is *much* better than the dark grey! :)

I am not sure about that, it might depend on what type of library it is since in the case of the show I tried with it used the Season backdrop, and when I removed the season backdrop it took one from the show level.

But glad setting the theme to black helped.
