FrostByte 5392 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 Then do "ls -a" again and you should see the file system.xml listed
FrostByte 5392 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 There is a Unix command editor you can try by typing the following in that folder: vi system.xml This link may help some using vi https://www.cs.colostate.edu/helpdocs/vi.html However, that program isn't easy, and I don't think I could possibly walk you through it as I find it difficult to use a command line editor like vi myself. I'm on Windows and use gui tools like WinSCP to navigate and Notepad to edit text files. If you had a Windows PC it would be easier for me. You can give vi a try, but you may need to find a macOS gui app to open that file. We may need to find someone who uses a mac like @Audiomixer for advice @LukeDo you have someone who can assist with editing a text file on Synology from a mac? I haven't seen @Carloin a while to remote in. Other options copy that file to your mac edit it there and then copy it back.
heavywrench 2 Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 by the sounds of it this is way out of my ability considering how much trouble I've had getting to this point. I think I might try to see if I can reset the IP address of my nas. I tried setting up a second emby account hoping that would work. It didn't. Sadly I don't have anyone that can help me with any of this. I would like to thank everyone for all of their efforts in trying to fix my dumb mistake. Thank you all very much for everything

With it i am running WinSCP as well. 1

Thank you all very much for everything Emby had a guy who could remote in, I haven't seen him in a while though. Another option may be to delete that system.xml file if you can't edit it. You should be able to do that since you were right there. @Lukewill Emby recreate the system.xml file with default values if not found? If that would work just go back to that folder and type: rm system.xml

tandafam 0 Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 I can certainly try to delete the XML file. Or should I try to get my nas a new ip address? Would that work? Thanks again for your help
heavywrench 2 Posted August 6, 2024 Author Posted August 6, 2024 I tried to delete the system xml file and was told I didn't have permission

heavywrench 2 Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 Someone said I was right there and should be able to delete the XML file. I had to restart because it had timed out so I got back to where I could see the system.xml file and tried. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong.
Neminem 1518 Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Are you the as op ? I don't see you using sudo -i Command to get access.
heavywrench 2 Posted August 7, 2024 Author Posted August 7, 2024 Ah crap. I forgot about the sudo -I Will try again. Thanks 1
heavywrench 2 Posted August 8, 2024 Author Posted August 8, 2024 Hey everyone, I think I might have done it. I am at this screen and I no longer see the system.xml file

Happy2Play 9780 Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Have you started Emby and connected via lanip:8096? Should be startup wizard.

heavywrench 2 Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 I get the can't reach server message. When I try the remote wan link in the dashboard. I did have it working before. I have followed the tutorial, tried the unup, tried emby connect, tried port forwarding on the router, tried using ddns. At this point I'm at a loss
