nVIceman24 0 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 I've been having AV sync issues with a TV I bought that replaced a projector which had no such issues. I've had nothing but trouble with AV sync issues that I eventually put the Shield TV 2015 I have from being connected to the Denon AVR to the TV instead and used eARC to the AVR from the TV. DTS:X works fine, but specifically in the official Emby app TrueHD does not. In Kodi, TrueHD passes through fine, so it is limited to the official Android app, which is actually true with Plex as well. I have to use Kodi for either to get TrueHD to pass through the TV. Any idea why this would be? Clearly, it is a software issue since hardware is actually doing it with other software. I'm trying to sort out my workaround options with both hardware configuration and software. Thanks.
Luke 42077 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
ebr 16171 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Hi. I don't believe there are any TVs that will allow True HD to pass through them that way (via Android - Kodi isn't using Android APIs).

It's listed as being able to passthrough TrueHD, which it does with Kodi. So you are saying Android itself isn't able to do so, that the passthrough ability for TrueHD is only limited to certain software?

It is actually intended for certain hardware - actual BD players. I don't think any Android device can pass thru True HD on eArc. You need to connect direct to the receiver.

Does this apply also in a situation where I have the Emby app installed directly to TV (Google TV OS)? That is, can True HD (Atmos) be passed thru to the AVR connected with eARC in that case?
