Hi all, I've noticed an issue with the "Latest Movies" and the "Latest TV shows" widgets that are on the home page. I've had to remove them from my son's profile because he was able to watch PG-13+ movies and TV shows through that option even though his account is set to not allow PG-13+ items.

Removing the home screen section "Latest Media" removes this, and he cannot access these movies and tv shows via the Movies or TV Shows libraries.

I've also noticed the "Continue Watching" widget doesn't load any pictures not sure what that's about but a separate issue.

This is a big problem for me as my son is 7, he shouldn't have access to these things when I have the parental controls set.

Hi, are any seasons or episodes underneath overriding the rating by setting their own? That could be what's happening.

I've tried with both manually setting rating as well as having the rating get pulled from different sources automatically. It seems to still have the same effect. This stands true for any movie or tv show outside of parental control. At least as far as I've noticed.

Hi.  Did you look at the individual episodes or seasons to see if they have ratings set?

If you click on the TV show poster from the Latest row, exactly what content shows there?

Must be something within the show as testing this in release and beta I can not reproduce with same settings as provided.

Only way I could get it to show is modify episode level rating.

Ah I see. You'd be right, looks like a few episodes are showing as within the rating for his parental control.

However, if the show is generally TV-14, and does not populate as an option for him to watch under the "TV Shows" library, regardless of if an episode is technically viewable by the standards of parental control, why would it show in the "Latest Media" widget. Seems like it still really shouldn't show here. As the show itself will not show under the TV Shows library.

If what I'm saying is making sense.

Checking the rating as an admin:

Yes sort of the grey area of episodes having their own rating.  As most don't and interit from Show level.  So you only option is clearing from episodes to honor Show level.

Is there an inherent setting for this in Emby? Or would I need to manually do this?

Actually @Lukewill have to comment but believe Last is grouping Episodes is why it see it and library does not.

No it is automatic, but I believe this is a change in TVDB api as I don't remember episodes getting individual ratings.

Might help

What you need to do is use the metadata editor to clear the rating of episodes and/or seasons so that they can inherit the data from the show.

Obviously there's a lot for us to think about here, e.g., do we want to continue to allow ratings at the episode or season levels or just keep it simple and have one rating for the entire series. But based on the way the system currently works, it allows for overriding at lower levels so you're going to have to clear those overrides.

Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
