RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Now that my Mythbusters has been solved, I have another issue. I have an extensive TV library that is on my NAS on a mapped drive, that has worked since I built the darn thing in 2014. During the last update it appears that my TV shows have decided to not be populated in Emby. They have .nfo files with full descriptions, but the shows themselves in the Emby library show them as emtpy. What's odd, is it is not every single show that is doing this. If I go into a season that has a poster but no episodes listed and I try to press play I getembyserver (3).rar "No playable items were found. Are you trying to play an empty folder?" I have even attempted to remove directories and put them back in and do a library scan, and nothing. Some TV shows are populated, others just have their posters with 0 entries. All files are fine, all paths are available. The OG path was to the actual server which has worked for every other library, so I changed it to the actual mapped drive letter (\\Tower\tv vs U:\ the mapped drive letter, I've also added the direct network path) and still not doing what it should be. As you can see files are named correctly, directories are named correctly, and the tvshow.nfo is from 2022, when the series was last updated. I've included my server log. Thanks a bunch.
Luke 42078 Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 HI there, how many emby libraries are created, and what folder paths are added to each one?
RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 24, 2024 Author Posted June 24, 2024 This was my TV library. Only one folder was created for the library. Since I have moved it to the mapped drive instead of a direct path, it now appears to be functioning as it is STILL scanning the library 8 hours later. I don't know why this would suddenly break when it was fine for years. As you can see, titles are populating with shows again.
RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 24, 2024 Author Posted June 24, 2024 The scan is finally complete and now my TV library is completely, totally F'd. What the heck has happened? embyserver (4).rar

What the heck has happened? Do you now have both "U:\" and "\\tower\TV" as library folder paths for libraries ? Make sure you only have one or the other - but you could add the UNC path in the optional Shared Network Folder field in library setup I tested out where you have a mapped drive path and the UNC path in the optional field in library folder setup and that did not give rise to both paths appearing as separate folder ID's in the log. Could you give details of which libraries have these paths and also give screenshots of the library folder paths and if you are making use of the optional UNC path to supplement the direct path? In my tests, I had the following which would show as
RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 25, 2024 Author Posted June 25, 2024 I only have one as per my picture. This is frustrating as every tv show that had missing data, are now the ones that are blanks and I have no means to remove them at all. it doesn't make sense with what has happened. Why would a path that has worked for years suddenly stop and cause data to "go missing" and then duplicate. Do I need to just remove the entire tv library and start it over from scratch?

I would assume just removing network path will not fix the rogue created library and possibly removing the entire library will not clear the database.
RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 25, 2024 Author Posted June 25, 2024 I have tried removing the Library altogether and I just getting the spinning circle of death. I take it the only way to fix this is to just nuke the server install and restart? Backing up my users of course before I go ahead and wipe the server install.

Might need to see the server log for that but am guessing that db will always have issues unless a db god can provide the correct code to remove the rogue entries.
RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 25, 2024 Author Posted June 25, 2024 Well I have finally managed to "remove" the library! I will give it a few hours to process and will report back later this evening. It appears my SSD might have been thermally throttled due to DB requests as it was hitting over 60C. Cheap WD SN570. Thanks for the support and help and I will update this evening.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 25, 2024 Posted June 25, 2024 Now it is a matter of if both folders were actually removed from the database? 2024-06-24 00:00:58.102 Debug SqliteItemRepository: GetitemById Folder 1054521 \\tower\TV 2024-06-24 00:00:58.102 Debug SqliteItemRepository: GetitemById Folder 1591591 U:\
RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 26, 2024 Author Posted June 26, 2024 I believe both folders were as I had no TV Shows Library at all when it was successfully removed. I currently have a functional library for TV shows. It did take a few hours for it to rescan but as it stands right now there are no duplicates and from a quick glance nothing is "broken". Thank you for all your help @Happy2Playand @sa2000I am not sure what to mark as the solution as it was solved by removing the library altogether and then waiting and waiting, then re-adding it.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 That would be @sa2000that noticed that actual issue. Did you add both paths back when you setup the library?
RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 26, 2024 Author Posted June 26, 2024 No I just left it as the mapped drive.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 I guess you could look in the server log when you removed the library to ensure both ids were removed. Would be good to know the steps that you took to have the database end up in the state it was in with both paths treated as separate folders - to see if we still have a problem in that area. I could experiment but would be easier with knowing what you changed to double up on the media files. Did you, perhaps, add a folder with the alternative path and then remove the earlier set one ? rather than edit the path that was in place? Edited June 26, 2024 by sa2000
RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 26, 2024 Author Posted June 26, 2024 the only thing I can guess is that I did not wait long enough for the server to finish cleaning the database before adding in the replacement directory. I still find it odd how the original problem started where items that had all the proper information and were working, would suddenly have all their data go missing. I originally had it setup as a direct network path, as I do with all my other Libraries.

RanmaCanada 495 Posted June 26, 2024 Author Posted June 26, 2024 @sa2000when I first removed the Library with the absolute path and added the mapped drive, my guess is I did not wait long enough for the sql database to purge the absolute path's contents in the database, and that is what caused the duplicates. As per what caused the "contents to be found but have no data at all" which is what started all this, I have no idea what caused that and it is a complete mystery. After being patient and letting the sql database get purged, and then adding the Library with a shared drive path instead of an absolute path, and waiting 8-12 hours for it to scan the entire Library, things appear to be back to normal. I hope this answers you questions. I still have no idea what started this, but the issue has been solved. 1
RanmaCanada 495 Posted July 3, 2024 Author Posted July 3, 2024 Well it's back again. I have no idea wtf is going on but this is ridiculous. I would really like to know what exactly is causing this. I am attempting to rescan my library to get my items back, but if I have to do this every single time something breaks, it's an unfeasible option. embyserver (2).7z

What issue do these screenshots indicate?
RanmaCanada 495 Posted July 3, 2024 Author Posted July 3, 2024 Library items are recognized, but there no contents in the folder. For example, 90210 is recognized as a series, but there is nothing listed on Emby when you click on the series itseslf. The files are still on my server, still have their .nfo and xml content and are recognized in Plex fine, but Emby has decided that this item exists, but none of the content is there.
Luke 42078 Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 OK Now I see, the seasons and episodes are empty for that series. Can you please respond to the question that was asked earlier: Quote HI there, how many emby libraries are created, and what folder paths are added to each one?
Luke 42078 Posted July 3, 2024 Posted July 3, 2024 Quote when I first removed the Library with the absolute path and added the mapped drive, my guess is I did not wait long enough for the sql database to purge the absolute path's contents in the database, and that is what caused the duplicates. Just to respond to this. Older server versions had a defect that would cause things to get leftover in the database if you shutdown or restarted the server while the removal was still taking place. This has since been resolved and it should no longer be possible to create this situation, however, if it did happen to you then you might still be impacted by it.
RanmaCanada 495 Posted July 3, 2024 Author Posted July 3, 2024 Everything was fixed as of June 26, but today it has decided to come back. I am really hoping I do not have to rescan my library weekly to fix this.
