ZanderKeen 72 Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Maybe this would be considered a feature request? But its for the Apple TV app. only so I'm not sure. I was wondering if this could be an easy fix for a future update? @SamESmaybe I noticed the Genres icons don't expand into wide rectangles like it does in tags on the Apple TV when I am using rectangle images. I was wondering if it could match how it looks on the other platforms. When I tab over to Folders on the Apple TV app, it shows them as rectangle shapes for those icons, just not the Genres. I am including some images as examples. Β This is what it looks like now on Genres tab: This is what it looks like on the Folders tab using the same images (and how I would think Genres is meant to look as well): This is how Genres icons look on the other platforms: Hopefully its an easy thing to do. Its not a show-stopper, just a little detail that got very noticed by my family. Thanks.
SamES 1056 Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Iβll have a look and see why this is the case. It should match other platforms, Iβll try and fix it if it doesnβt.Β Β Thanks.Β 1
ZanderKeen 72 Posted June 24, 2024 Author Posted June 24, 2024 @SamESThanks! No rush. It was just brought to my attention & I figure I'd ask. 1

ZanderKeen 72 Posted October 9, 2024 Author Posted October 9, 2024 @SamESThis bug has returned with Emby version 1.9.0 (4) on tvOS 18.1.Β Β This time it has reverted to squares in both the Genres and Folders tabs and with the difference being the images fit in the squares this time rather than running outside the icon (as seen above). Here is the current issue and how it looks (this is the same in the Genres and Folders tab) This is how it is expected to look (to match other platforms & web) If you have any questions or need more info or pics please let me know.
SamES 1056 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 That's weird, they should be sizing correctly.Β Are the genre images 'Primary' images, or are they 'Thumb' images? Can you show me a screenshot for 'Edit Images' for one genre? In the web app, is the 'View' setting for Genres set to 'Primary'?

Can you show me a screenshot for 'Edit Images' for one genre? In the web app, is the 'View' setting for Genres set to 'Primary'? Here is what I have set on web. It does display properly on web, Roku, android & others as expected. But the tvOS on AppleTV is back to those squares again. It was working fine in the Emby 1.8.9 version displaying the icons as rectangles as expected so something changed in the update. I have one TV still running that older version in my spare bedroom and it displays them fine as rectangles as well. @SamES *edit: Additionally in Apple TV the settings "Show Fields" I have Title checked, Banner unchecked. If that helps any. Edited October 10, 2024 by Zander3768
SamES 1056 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 What's weird is that I see them correctly.Β I've created a genres library with 1 item, just for test The logic applied is that the aspect is the closest match to the average of all images, so as long as most of the genre images are this aspect then it should display correctly.Β The code is the same as the web app which is why I'm surprised that you're seeing this issue in Genres
ZanderKeen 72 Posted October 10, 2024 Author Posted October 10, 2024 @SamES If this helps any, this is the image I am using. It is the same size throughout all of them since I am using the same template. I also see the square images on the Folders icons as well within appleTV (using the same images).
SamES 1056 Posted October 10, 2024 Posted October 10, 2024 Thanks, Iβll test your image. Maybe the aspect is a little off and itβs confusing the algorithm, but if it works in the web app then it should work here.Β 1
Solution SamES 1056 Posted October 11, 2024 Solution Posted October 11, 2024 OK, I've worked out what's going on.Β I had already fixed this last week but it looks like the update you have went out before I had fixed it.Β It should be fine when you get the next update Β 2
