34by151 4 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 I have been using Emby with 2 users and have auto box sets setup I have 4 Libraries configured Movie, TV, Pics and Music All of these work correctly and I have the movie collections working I have setup 2 new users They dont have access to the Pics library thet have Movie,TV and Music enabled Collections dont show for these users If I give them access to pics and not "all libraries" collections show up access "all libraries" collections show up Is this normal? I would have expected collectiosn to show up when you have access to the movie library Im using Version 4.8.7.0
Luke 42077 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Hi, do they have the Collections tab inside their movies library?
34by151 4 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 Yes Collections is available via the collections tab inside movies Collections does not show up on the Home screen as a library
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Will have to test but appears to be something wonky in Access. But will guess it will be hard to reproduce.
34by151 4 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 Your question got me thinking and I have a work around 1. As admin edit the user 2. Enable each libray for the user 3. Login as the user and conform collections are present on the home screen 4. Login as Admin 5. Restrict the libraries to Movie and TV 6. Login as user and check collectios are still present 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) Not sure if it is a timing issue or what but I don't know of any way to not have access to Collections library once created beside hiding it via users Home Screen settings. As removing access to every library still presents Collections and Playlists (assuming libraries exist). Edited June 2, 2024 by Happy2Play

In addition to the workaround above I made some test users to see what happens Created Test1 with access to only movie and saved Crested Test2 with access to all and saved Collections was no working for user Test2 Crested test3 with access to only movie and pressed save. Changed library access to only movie and pressed save Collections were working for Test3 So as far as I can can tell you need to crest and save users with all libraries then go back and restrict If you restrict before ptressing save the permisions issue comes up and you need to give them all acces, save then restrice and save again

Does not seem to be time related Seems to be you have to have saved the user at some point with all libraies actived for collections to show in home screen
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 So I get this correct the issue is actually with user creation applying restrictions correct? As I have never created a user without default settings then made changes afterwards. Will test applying restrictions at creation. But will suspect different results as I am on current release 4.8.8.0.
34by151 4 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 Thats correct isue only shows up when adding restrictions on creation If the user has nexer been saved with all enabled they will nexer see collections

As in my test creating users with no access on creation show Collections and Playlist libraries and making selective library access does not change that on creating a new user. 1
Solution 34by151 4 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Solution Posted June 2, 2024 (edited) Resolved in 4.8.8.0 FYI im using the docker image lscr.io/linuxserver/emby:latest Just for laughs rolled back to 4.8.7.0 and the issue returned Went back to 4.8.8.0 issue fixed again Thanks for your help Edited June 2, 2024 by 34by151 1 1
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Yes there are access/parental controls quirks being worked out in 4.8. But asking what platform was going to be the next question as I couldn't reproduce in either version .7/.8 on Windows.
