Unusable interface on Phone

Hello,

I am trying to use Emby on my Galaxy S24U and the interface is completely bonkers (to put it mildly) and is immensely difficult to do anything with. Horizontal-only main menu, Items scrolling back to the beginning, videos requiring two clicks to do anything with (why?), vertical scrolls not working and acting like a two-plane image, icons stretching, grey bar that won't go away, no automatic horizontal mode...

Compared to the IOS versions, this feels like a badly ported Alpha. And a half-done one at that. Android TV app-like was what I was looking for on my phone.

Did I download the wrong version or something from the Play Store? Don't understand why the experience is so bad.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi.  That sounds like somehow you installed the TV-specific app on your phone - although I'm not sure how you did that...

Oh there are multiple versions available.
I just downloaded the first one in search results. I will try with the one that doesn't say "Android TV". Maybe the Android TV one should not be available in regular play store?

It should only be available to devices that advertise support for Android TV.  Perhaps that phone is doing that for some reason...

Apparently this was the issue.

It is available as a general download in play store catalog. Perhaps having it hidden or not show up in the future will be good?

After a little research, that isn't quite as simple as it sounds as there are a lot of generic boxes that, internally, look like phones but are intended for use on a TV.  If we tightened our restrictions, these would no longer have the app.

But, this should be a moot point going forward as our standard app should work fine on both formats.
