Newman909 7 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 It's almost August. Back in March, the expectation was that this would be nearly finished, right @Luke Since Iβve been waiting a long time with no visible progress, Iβm going to explore the Docker route I guess. 2
JamieTrottter 3 Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) Another new Ugreen convert here, patiently waiting for a native app for my 4800 Pro. I had no choice but to abandon Synology once they stopped supporting hardware trancoding. Edited August 14 by JamieTrottter 2 1
Ron 6 Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Mine is now running... made some mistakes with the folder definitions in the docker container, but figured it out in the end. The ugreen is so much smoother and reactive! Hardware makes a difference. Also using my old NVMEs as a volume now instead of cache becuase I can and Emby server lives there. But still waiting to switch back to a native install! 1 1

Chris0248 4 Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Nothing for at least another 6 to 12 months.Β Seriously considering dropping UGOS and switching to TrueNAS.

I know they claim that thereβll be a native app but as I explained before, theyβd have the first and only actually native third party app on UGOS then. All existing ones are Docker installations in the background. And docker runs like a charmΒ
TrickyThomski 0 Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Well that sucks. This is where you tell me the letter is 6 to 12 months old Β
Chris0248 4 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I wish mate, go this email on Thursday morning 20-08-26Β 1

Luke 43396 Posted September 10 Posted September 10 We are still waiting to hear back from them. You guys wanted a native package and so we are doing it right with the SDK they have provided, rather than just another wrapper around docker. But certain things like hardware acceleration are not possible without their support and so we are waiting on that. 3 1

There's factors out of our control. We could have just whipped up something generic with Docker, but you guys wanted a native package that would perform better.
Houfino 45 Posted September 26 Posted September 26 How much longer are we going to wait for a native package? I donβt expect it before 2030β¦ Weβll be old by then! So forget the native package and improve the Docker version instead. Then you can relax. UGREEN is still in its early days, like a young tree thatβs gradually growing. They keep releasing improved versions and working to support more apps, since there are still only a few available. It will take a long time.
Ron 6 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I fear that the work they (UGreen) are now doing on the HA & MA systems will halt progress on the iDX series and maybe some of the true NAS-only products.
Luke 43396 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 I followed up with them and am just waiting to hear back. 1
