I am using emby-kodi next gen to play my videos in kodi.

I created a collection in the browser on windows called "Studio Ghibli Collection" and added 6 movies to the collection.

In kodi I set the check box for setting/library/videos/show movie sets.

Initially all the movies showed up in kodi but after a few days - maybe a week two of the movies were removed and these two movies showed in main movie list on both the kodi interface and in the browser.

running version 4.8.6.0

In the movie library the following are checked - and others too.

  • I have enable real time monitoring checked
  • all the metadata downloaders checked
  • Import collection information from metadata downloaders

I am leaving the last one checked because I was also losing movies from automated collections until I left it check.

Now I only lose movies from the custom ghibli collection.

Periodically I restore the movies to the set and eventually some get removed - haven't really been tracking which ones each time - maybe the same ones maybe not.

Any thoughts on how to chase this down?

Do you use native mode?

Also Kodi does not support movies assigned to multiple collections. Is this the case?

Which plugin version do you use?

Which plugin version do you use? 10.0.24

Sorry about the slow response - for some reason I didn't get an email notification.

Just upgraded to 4.8.8.0 and re selected my movies into the custom group. Then I watched one of the movies when I finished watching in Kodi i looked at the movie list and two of the formerly selected collection movies were now in the main list. Then I checked in emby in the browser with the same results. Whatever this problem is it is still here in the latest version of emby and emby-kodi addon.

Check for the video and audio codecs for the movies that do not appear.  Could it be that Kodi, just doesn't want to list those?

to be clear all the movies added show up in the collection at the beginning. They even stay there for a while - hours maybe days. Eventually even if I don't watch any of them one or more will leave and just show up in the main list. I usually notice the absence in Kodi but it is alway reflected in the Emby interface. Not necessarily a problem with Kodi or the Add-on. I think it is an emby problem. Also some of the ones that are moved out from the collection and into the main list I have already watched.

I did a little exploration of the /var/lib/emby/metadata/collections folder and discovered there was a "Studio Ghibli" folder and a "Studio Ghibli Collection" folder. I removed those and also deleted the collection in the browser UI and reentered all 7 movies that I have now.

Now we'll see what happens

Yesterday an hour or after deselecting: Import collection information from metadata downloaders

I noticed that my manually built collection was still fully populated but two of the automatic collections had movies that "migrated" out of the collection and into the main list.

I manually moved the errant movies back into their respective collections and this morning all collections are still populated correctly.

Now we'll see what happens.

Also regarding my previous post - it doesn't make any sense to think that the collection metadata would have any influence on the content of the collections. That data would be maintained in the database.

This is a test I am currently running. The starting point is that I disabled "real-time monitoring" and disabled "Import collection information from metadata downloaders". I then put all the collection movies back in their respective collections manually. Also I turned off/shutdown my Kodi client so the only access I have is the emby client on my smart tv. Not as good an interface as Kodi but I can tough it out to see if that is the contributing factor in the problem.

Just a note: I have not touched my collections since the previous post and just before I setup this test all the collection movies had migrated out of their collections. And some of the collections were missing - I needed to recreate them to run this test.

I am running version 4.8.8.0.

The previous test failed.

My next test works. In addition to above settings I turned off everything in the LIbrary/Movies/edit dialog. No Metadata Downloaders, No Metadata Readers, No Metadata savers. No Movie Image Fetchers.

Essentially crippled auto metadata downloading and now I can manually build my collections and not have them automatically emptied out.

Since I don't add to the library very often anymore I can manage this.

In older versions Collection management used to work OK.
