mrtj18 4 Posted May 26, 2024 Posted May 26, 2024 Hello Im fairly new to Emby, and I am having issues with Live TV transcoding audio with Emby and Unriad. When transcoding live IPTV through TVheadend the video playback is fine. I just have no Audio. After checking the logs it seems there is some type of issue with VP8 or VP9. I have no issues with sound with local tv shows and Movies. Everything plays back perfectly. But I am stumped on how to get the sound working. I have tried, turning off VP8 and VP9. Also stopping and restarting the container. I have no Sound with live tv no matter what device I use. any help, I be grateful. embyserver(1).txt ffmpeg-transcode-8f977e34-0c08-4299-89d2-e5920b8c5195_1.txt
mrtj18 4 Posted May 27, 2024 Author Posted May 27, 2024 Following up, I was finally able to get audio again while watching live TV. Seems the issue was emby was not selecting h.264 for encoding and decoding, but vp9. So I had restart my server and magically emby started selecting h.264 for encoding and decoding. And now I have audio again. Don't know why deselecting vp9 has no effect, and I had to reset the whole server. For it to work, but now it did
mrtj18 4 Posted June 19, 2024 Author Posted June 19, 2024 Hello after restarting my server multiple times the issue has come back, I'm stumped on how to make the emby select h.264 consistently through server reboots

How to Report a Problem Thanks.
mrtj18 4 Posted June 21, 2024 Author Posted June 21, 2024 (edited) So when I watch movies already on my server I have no issues with transcoding. ( See first screenshot and log 5fe9 logffmpeg-transcode-5fe9c284-86e1-40a3-84bf-97f75af519cb_1.txt) But when I watch live tv. Emby just ignores my settings and I continue to have no audio. And when I do, im afriad to restart Emby docker because the saves may not persist. ( see transcode 489 logffmpeg-transcode-4894ca9e-a226-4432-a5ef-8f2d53722d6e_1.txt) It keeps selecting VP8 or VP9 instead of h.264 or h.265 which is what I have selected on my transcode settings. I have done some digging around and saw that it could be an issue with hardware detection so I switched from Emby stable to various beta builds. But i kept having the same issue that "Failed to initialize VA /dev/dri/renderD128. Error -1"hardware_detection-63854538868.txtto find my GPU. I just dont know how to fix this issue. I am running unraid latest build with a rtx 3080 gpu running a 5950x AMD CPU. Live TV provided by tvheadend plugin Edited June 21, 2024 by mrtj18
Solution mrtj18 4 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Solution Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) So after numerious installs, and uninstalls of emby, emby server and emby beta, I found out the only thing i needed to do was to uninstall the tvheadend plugin, and reinstall it. Now tvheadned no longer ignores my transcoding settings. So now I have proper sound with Acc audio and h.264 video. Hopefully this fixes my issue for good. Been going on 2 days now and no issues.
