NitDawg 3 Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Hi all. I am trying to add three DTS-MA audio tracks to an MKV using MKVToolNix. I confirmed the tracks are added and playback is fine via VLC media player. In emby, however, none of the audio tracks are listed for selection (even the original tracks) and even during playback, I cannot select the audio track, nor is any other information on the video appearing. Here's the original: And then just adding the three DTS tracks it ends up like this: Even though the re are all in there: I feel like I'm missing a step? Thanks for the help!!! NitDawg
Luke 42080 Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Hi, since you changed the file, try either refreshing the metadata on it or running a library scan.
NitDawg 3 Posted May 19, 2024 Author Posted May 19, 2024 Yup! The new copy was put in a new folder, did a scan, etc...still no metadata. Stats for nerds only lists the stream with no video or audio info (both versions of the playback below). Original: With new tracks added:

NitDawg 3 Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 It's the library where I've done the scan and refresh metadata.
NitDawg 3 Posted May 26, 2024 Author Posted May 26, 2024 And I've scanned from the server interface, and I've moved it into a new collection...same behavior...there is no audio/file information. it has to be something from adding the tracks, but VLC sees them all, even the track names I provide in MKVToolNix. I feel like its something obvious I'm doing (I've never added audio tracks before) but not sure.
Solution jiggity 35 Posted May 26, 2024 Solution Posted May 26, 2024 Emby can be exceptionally dumb when you make file changes. You need to remove the file from the library (physically move it to a different non emby location), delete the old NFO, scan the library minus the file, re-add the file, re-scan the library and then Emby will probably recognize any changes. 1

Hi, this isn't necessary. As long as the date timestamp of the file changes, then a normal library scan is all that's needed. 1 1

This worked! I nuked the folder I created (it was the same name plus 'copy' added to the end). Scanned. Added a new folder (test) added the mkv back (test.mkv) and then the metadata was pulled. Maybe it was a naming issue? It was originally in a new folder and the file name was the same as the original with just the (1) added to the end. So I'm going to try a bit per your follow post too, @Luke

So if I simply replaced the source MKV with the new MKV, that also worked (just with a simple refresh). I think what got me in trouble (though I don't know why), was I copied the entire source folder...so new folder name appended with 'copy', then added the tracks and the new MKV file in there (it did have an updated time stamp). Anyways, lessons learned, and I really appreciate your help @jiggityand @Luke 1
