EmYaj 25 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 This may be by design but feels a bit weird, when I have one user with multiple streams the dashboard flips through all of their streams at seemingly random pace. Sometimes it stops or sits on one stream for a while before flipping to the next one and sometimes it flips through very quickly like in the video attached. (user jammin1911 in this example). Is this normal? I would have thought I would see three separate entries on the dashboard for this user rather than 1 entry flipping between 3 different streams. Also something else I noticed that was unexpected was that one of the stream is "reducing bitrate due to quality setting" but as far as I know this user does not have permission to do this. (it's me, and I didnt set any change to quality manually). I attached a screenshot of this user's playback permissions from the account - I don't think it should be allowed to reduce bitrate due to a quality setting of any sort. multiplestreams.mp4 1
Luke 42079 Posted May 16, 2024 Posted May 16, 2024 Hi there, please attach the emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks.
EmYaj 25 Posted May 16, 2024 Author Posted May 16, 2024 attached. I wasn't sure if this was a problem or if it was like this by design Thanks embyserver.txt
Luke 42079 Posted May 17, 2024 Posted May 17, 2024 Hi, is this something you can get to happen again? Can you temporarily enable debug logging, restart the server, get it to happen again, and then attach the debug log? Thanks !
EmYaj 25 Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 Yup it's still happening. Here is the log after turning debug on. embyserver(10).txt

Apologies still new to Emby and not super technical person, not sure what a session is specifically. The user is jammin1911 if that helps. That said - I think I figured out that this is happening when there are multiple streams from the same device. Seems like the dashboard group multiple streams from the same device (in this case my firefox browser) in to a single entry on the dashboard.

I counted 9 open playback sessions, but every single one still had ongoing activity right up until the end of the log file. Therefore, I think it was correct that they were still showing. Was jammin1911 you or someone else? In other words, are you able to create a session yourself that you think gets stuck there? If so, how?
EmYaj 25 Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 jammin1911 is me. just to clarify, the question was not about showing old sessions it was about grouping multiple sessions in to one entry on the dashboard. If I open 3 browser tabs and play something in each tab they will all be grouped together in one entry that seems to just randomly and intermittently switch between which session it is displaying. you can see this in the video i posted the one that is changing.

Hi, for browser tabs, yes this is an open issue. It will be corrected in future updates. The server internally manages them all separately, it's just that screen that only shows one per device. 1
EmYaj 25 Posted May 17, 2024 Author Posted May 17, 2024 Alright good to know thanks for clarification 1

So she is not watching 4 things just 1 but paused movies she stopped watching still show up when she starts a new movie. We have reset the ruku but it keeps happening. Also when she turns off TV it still flips through 4 shows. Only unplugging the TV stops the user from showing up. I'm trying to give you as much info as I know about this issue but I can't edit my past post or delete it so you will have 3 posts from me. You can remove all the other posts. I only have report or share as an option for my post!
pwhodges 2012 Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 Does she stop watching by pressing the Roku's "Home" button? That doesn't let the Emby client report back to the server that it has been stopped, and this is a symptom of that. Paul
