Noel-M 11 Posted May 3, 2024 Posted May 3, 2024 Often I watch a recorded TV program while it is still recording, maybe time shifted by 30 minutes or so. When I attempt to stop watching the program the Emby client hangs and is unresponsive. The remedy is to "force stop" the app, or to reboot the TV. When I stop watching the TV program Emby has finished recording. I typically record 10 minutes after the scheduled program end, so when I stop watching I have not reached the end of the recording. Emby server is uneffected. I can re-watch the recording without issue.

Noel-M 11 Posted May 4, 2024 Author Posted May 4, 2024 The device is Toshiba TV running Android 8.0.0 (kernel version 3.10.79) Client is Emby for Android ver 2.1.10g Emby server is 4.8.5.0 You ask for a log file - is this a server log ? I read the instructions for sending a log directly from Emby for Android TV, but can't find "debug options". Attached is my cog menu.
justinrh 260 Posted May 4, 2024 Posted May 4, 2024 (edited) The server log is like what you attached to The debug option is in the "General Display" page of the menu you show above. Toggle it on, then you can send the client log via the user menu at the Emby home page. Edited May 4, 2024 by justinrh 1
Noel-M 11 Posted May 5, 2024 Author Posted May 5, 2024 Ok, I scheduled a recording a "Masterchef" starting at 7:30 pm and ending at 9 pm. I started watching the program while it was recording at 8:15 pm, skipped a few ads, and got to the end of the program at about 9:30 pm. I exited the playback, and see the screen which offers play, resume, etc - but the app is frozen. I "Force Stop" the app, restart it and "Send Logs" via the user menu, Attached are server logs, hardware_detection-63850531639.txt hardware_detection-63850531613.txt ffmpeg-remux-6e553ee3-87bb-4425-87e7-43f40ff91ebe_1.txt embyserver (3).txt hardware_detection-63850541262.txt hardware_detection-63850531642.txt
Noel-M 11 Posted May 5, 2024 Author Posted May 5, 2024 Yep, maybe similar. Mine happens regularly (not all the time) if I watch a program that was recording when I start watching, but has finished recording by the time I end watching. Haven't noticed 'eventually closed and relaunched. I have to kill mine.

Noel-M 11 Posted May 5, 2024 Author Posted May 5, 2024 OK, installed. Let you know results in a few days. 2
Noel-M 11 Posted May 6, 2024 Author Posted May 6, 2024 Updated the client to beta 2.1.11g This is not a fix - the problem still exists. I am watching a program while it is recording. If the server stops recording while the client is still watching, then the crash occurs when the client stops watching. There is no crash if the client stops watching while the server is recording. I can confirm that if I do nothing after the crash occurs, eventually the screen goes black and Emby restarts,

Noel-M 11 Posted May 6, 2024 Author Posted May 6, 2024 I had an instance about 4 hours ago (that's yesterday for me). Are the auto-client logs any good? Should I repeat the process tomorrow?

I'm afraid I don't know what those are... 3 minutes ago, Noel-M said: I had an instance about 4 hours ago (that's yesterday for me) If you send the log now, I can probably see that occurrence. Thanks.
Noel-M 11 Posted May 6, 2024 Author Posted May 6, 2024 OK, app logs sent. Server logs attached. At 7:30 I record program "Masterchef" At about 8:15 (??) I start watching the recording. Masterchef ends at 8:40 I watch until the end of the recording. skipping ads, about 9:15 (??) Exit the playback and it hangs. embyserver (4).zip

ebr 16174 Posted May 6, 2024 Posted May 6, 2024 Oh shoot, I see now that the fix hasn't actually gone out in beta yet.
Noel-M 11 Posted May 6, 2024 Author Posted May 6, 2024 This is not life threatening - just inconvenient. Let me know when there is a beta update and we'll start again.

Noel-M 11 Posted May 7, 2024 Author Posted May 7, 2024 Updated the client to beta 2.1.12g Repeated the previous scenario. All works well this time. I'm not sure that it always failed before, but this is positive. I'll let you know if there are further problems. In the mean time - thanks 2
Solution Noel-M 11 Posted May 11, 2024 Author Solution Posted May 11, 2024 No further incidents. Looks like a winner 1
