Luke 42078 Posted March 19, 2025 Posted March 19, 2025 Hi, can you please try this build and see how things compare? Thanks !
wjcarpenter 9 Posted March 19, 2025 Author Posted March 19, 2025 That's great news of a potential fix. It will take me a little while to be able to test that build, so I hope one of the other folks experiencing the same problem can get to it before me.
wjcarpenter 9 Posted April 10, 2025 Author Posted April 10, 2025 Alas, no joy. With the latest Android app, both on my phone and on my Android TV, no change in symptoms except: External players now work in both environments. Captions show up in those external players. I used VLC on my phone and Kodi on Android TV. Most recordings from TVE did not show captions in either Android app. However, one recording I made did display captions on the Android TV app but not on the phone app.I tried to replicate that behavior by making a second recording on the same TVE channel (Sundance TV on Philo), but it wouldn't show the captions on either Android app.

Luke 42078 Posted April 18, 2025 Posted April 18, 2025 Quote Phone: 3.4.36 OK this should be resolved once you have a version number higher than that. We're working on getting an update out to the store. Thanks.
wjcarpenter 9 Posted April 19, 2025 Author Posted April 19, 2025 My phone is now at 3.4.56 and the closed captions play correctly. Yay! My Android TV does not yet set an available update, so I'm still on 2.1.23g. 1

Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.

wjcarpenter 9 Posted May 15, 2025 Author Posted May 15, 2025 Oh, wow. I didn't even realize that the standard Android app could be used on Android TV. It works and solves the problem. I've only poked around a little bit, but I assume the main difference is in UI presentation, and I'm not losing any interesting features. 1
