Emby Server 4.8.1.0 + library update not working anymore

Since updating to 4.8.1.0 (DSM 7.2) the automatic library recognition is not working anymore when adding new movies. I had no issues in the past. Realtime monitoring is enabled in the library settings.

 

I have also this script running in Synology DSM to support the automatic update (had the same script with older Emby versions, no changes here):

  

sh -c '(sleep 90 && echo 3276800 > /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches)&'
sh -c '(sleep 90 && echo 8192 > /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances)&'

 

Any idea?

Hi,

Can you post a log file from a time frame when media was added, noting the rough time, media was added to the system?

Hi,

Just deleted the movie which was not working and reuploaded it. This time it was recognized. No errors in the log file. I will further observe it and give an update here.

I just added three movies and the library was not updated. The log shows nothing related to adding movies:

Just make sure the log covers a specific example of media added.

I need to observe it further. Today my plan was to create a log when the problem occurs. However today the recognition was working without issues.

Today the realtime monitoring was not working again. Please find attached the log. I added some movies and episodes. I see an Inotify error in the log. However I have a script running on my Synology which is resetting the Inotify counter at each reboot. Simultaneously I checked the directory mentioned regarding the counter values and the system states: 

/volume1/@appdata/EmbyServer# cat /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches
3276800

So this should be fine. 

Specs:

  • Synology DSM 7.2
  • Emby Server 4.8.3.0

Hi, maybe try rebooting your machine and see if it comes up again.

I did a reboot of the Emby server. It recognized the movies but not the episodes. A manual library scan fixed this.

Hi Luke, the log I’v attached is the example. Non of the movies or episodes I’ve added appeared in the log or library.

Can only guess something is not configured properly.

TV and Movies 

The configured user limit (8192) on the number of inotify watches has been reached, or the operating system failed to allocate a required resource.

Another system guru will have to comment but is that a valid value?

Have you tried the values in the guide?
