I think i may be blind or dumb or both but I can't seem to find the API endpoint for getting a list of a users played items

The regular User Items API with the IsPlayed filter set should give you the required info.

thank you also do you know if there is a way to query the api to get TVDB ID and TMDB ID from emby, i tried the externalidinfo endpoint but that didnt return any actual ids

Depends on how you are fetching the items but adding Fields=ProviderIds to the API URL should return the provider IDs generally.
