bcondemi 5 Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 (edited) I have logged in remotely (outside the network) and am presented with the login page. I setup 5 user account (all having access remotely) and attempt to login. Each time I get 'Sign-in error' Invalid username or password. I have a simple one name username and a 4 character simple password. (just for testing). same error for all accounts. Is there a name/password criteria for remote access? or can suggest what to check? Thank-you -I just checked locally as well. My 4 digit password is also not working. Subsequently, I can no longer log in. If there is no solution, I may have to delete the entire settings and start again. Edited December 12, 2023 by bcondemi
ebr 16346 Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Did you setup SSL on your server or are you trying to use plain http?
bcondemi 5 Posted December 12, 2023 Author Posted December 12, 2023 Remotely I am able to log-in and see the login page and enter username and password. entering the password gives me the error. do I need ssl for that? ***Regardless of remote connection*** I am not able to login locally either now. my username is pre-filled and entering the 4 digit password fails. '1234' that's it! Not sure what happened?
bcondemi 5 Posted December 12, 2023 Author Posted December 12, 2023 Ok, I was able to follow password recovery thread and got back in. I will attempt password set up on other accounts and test remote logins again. 1
bcondemi 5 Posted December 12, 2023 Author Posted December 12, 2023 I can confirm signing in locally with a password works. Signing in remotely through my DDNS, can access the emby login page, but username/password error. Signing in using Emby Connect on my iphone, l can access the emby login page, but username/password error. second user, local signing in OK, errors remotely. (same as above errors) So I'm not sure why the same credentials work locally not remotely. I hope I can find a solution or I may not be able to use Emby. Thank-you
bcondemi 5 Posted December 12, 2023 Author Posted December 12, 2023 (edited) ... After much investigation, turns out, my Unifi router did not like port 8096. SO I changed it to 8097 (for testing). I am now able to login, user, password and all working. Testing further.... after forwarding port 8920, It's not working. tested open port tool and 8920 is closed. Is there a setting that I'm missing? Thank-you Edited December 12, 2023 by bcondemi
Luke 42255 Posted December 12, 2023 Posted December 12, 2023 Well 8920 is Emby Server's default SSL port. Have you setup SSL on your Emby Server?
bcondemi 5 Posted December 12, 2023 Author Posted December 12, 2023 I would have to buy an SSL certificate and not willing to do that for testing. TY

TY You can get certificates for free, you know, and programs (such as the web server / reverse proxy called Caddy) which will do even that for you automatically, and keep them renewed automatically. bcondemi 5 Posted December 13, 2023 Author Posted December 13, 2023 I appreciate that, but would rather not sign-in to yet more sites. more passwords, programs running, etc... But yes thank-you
pwhodges 2036 Posted December 13, 2023 Posted December 13, 2023 No sign-in involved in what I mentioned. Paul
