pomm 1 Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 (edited) MKV files no longer direct stream to standard Fire TV (3rd Gen) devices. Direct stream still works on the Fire TV Stick 4K and the Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen). All devices have up-to-date firmware. Is this a problem with Amazon's standard Fire TV (3rd Gen) device? Thanks! GrimReaper 4740 Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Provide ffmpeg log for that transcode session.

Solution GrimReaper 4740 Posted July 28, 2023 Solution Posted July 28, 2023 (edited) It appears that FireTV (3rd gen) is reporting not supporting 10-bit HEVC: Quote &hevc-profile=Main Quote "Profile":"Main 10"," hence it is transcoding: Quote &TranscodeReasons=VideoProfileNotSupported Same already reported here: You can reproduce the issue and follow the instructions to send a log from the app. You might also try sideloading Standard Android app and see how does that compare? Emby for Android - Emby After reading the the other thread I saw that a workaround was to disable transcoding. I tried that and it immediately fixed the problem for the Fire TV (3rd Gen), the Fire TV 43" TV (2nd Gen) and all web browser playback. Amazing! Thank you so much for the solution.

VirulentPip 93 Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 The fact this never got resolved sucks. I still have a couple users who haven't updated to the 4K stick and still unnecessarily transcodes using the proper app. Walking them through sideloading isn't worth it, so just transcode away.. But yeah you'd think it would have been solved 15 months later.
Luke 42078 Posted July 28, 2023 Posted July 28, 2023 Hi. Can you try sideloading our standard android app on the same device and see how that compares? https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html Thanks.
VirulentPip 93 Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 As reported last year.. The standard Android app works - GrimReaper attached my post. Quick fix is to disable transcoding, but then that in turn messes it up for files that actually need to be transcoded. I was told the proper app would ultimately get the update.. Didn't think 15 months+ was the timeline back then lol 1
ebr 16178 Posted July 29, 2023 Posted July 29, 2023 Have you tried the latest beta of the Fire TV app?
