Dear Emby Support Team,

I am writing to inquire about how to save the cover art and other information of all my movies from my old Emby server after reinstalling the server software.

Recently, I encountered some issues with my Emby server. Every day at 5 PM, the network traffic would become unstable, and I could not identify any hardware-related issues. After troubleshooting, I decided to uninstall the Emby server software and reinstall it again. I was able to restore my server using the Backup & Restore feature, but unfortunately, I lost all the cover art and other information related to my movie library. Since my library is quite extensive, it would be time-consuming to re-scrape all the information.

Therefore, I am writing to inquire about how I can avoid losing my movie information in the future, or how I can copy the movie information to the new installation of the Emby server software. I would appreciate it if you could provide me with instructions or guidance on how to do this.

Yes, as stated in KB article:

Use the Server Configuration Backup Plugin

We recommend using the Server Configuration Backup plugin, which is designed to make this process really painless by doing the work for you. This plugin requires Emby Premiere and can be found in our plugin catalog.

The Server Configuration Backup plugin can help you backup and restore the following:

• Server configuration
• Users
• User data (play-states, favorites, etc).
• Installed plugins
• Plugin settings
• Playlists

This will not backup library contents and metadata. To keep a permanent copy of metadata, we suggest enabling saving of local metadata to media folders. The plug-in also does not backup live TV recording settings or series at this time.

You need to save artwork/NFOs with your media (enable same in your per-library settings):
