Emby is unable to find current device to play music

When I attempt to play a song using Emby via my Alexa devices, it no longer works.   The conversation goes as shown below.   To address a different issue I was told to remove the DLL files in this directory.  The problem seems to have cropped up after this but could just be a coincidence.

var/packages/EmbyServer/var/plugins

 

Alexa, open m. b. home

Say the number of the player to send this to; Say 1 for this player

I have TCP enabled to port 8096 in the router.  In the Emby configuration under "Networking" I don't have an SSL certificate if that's what you mean.

This was working until I removed those DLL's  from the plugins directory.

You’re trying to play music on the Alexa directly using Emby?

 This will not work unless you setup ssl on your server using a certificate that Alexa trusts.

Is requiring a certificate something new?  I don't recall having to include a SSL certificate previously.  As I said, this was working fine until about a week ago.

If you want to use Alexa to play to other devices then you don’t need an ssl cert. if you want to use Alexa to play directly on the Alexa device, then you need an ssl cert and no, it’s not new. The Alexa device will only play media URLs that are https.

Alexa plays on any Sonos device I specify, e.g., the Office or Family Room.    It's Emby that has the problem.  Not sure what changed, this was working last week.

Hi, can you reinstall emby server that'll restore the plugins that were removed. The Sonos plugin will also need to be installed from the plugin store.

Can you point me to the plugin store?  I could not find it at the Emby website.

I did not need an SSL cert as you suggested.  What did resolve the issue was adding the Sonos plugin.
