akacharos 31 Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Hi, I am using TinyMediaManager to update metadata for existing content in Emby. So I have only enabled Nfo Metadata Readers & Savers in my Emby Libraries: I have done a refresh on the local .nfo's through TMM for fetching updated IMDB/Critic ratings for all the content. However I have hard time understanding how can I force Emby to read these ratings. Scanning files for new content won't update the ratings and if I do full metadata refresh > search for missing metadata won't update the ratings (as the ratings are not missing). Obviously I don't want to replace all metadata because I will lose chapters and Video Preview Thumbnails. Any ideas?
GrimReaper 4749 Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 (edited) Scan alone of the updated NFOs should do it - are your items locked (or your original NFOs had <lockdata> tag set to "true"), as that'd prevent any metadata update/change? Btw, if you're writing your NFOs with TMM, disable Emby's NFO saver, you don't want both programs to constanly overwrite those. Edit: Scratch that, just tested it myself: neither Scan library files nor Scan media library nor Refresh Metadata>Search for missing reads updated rating(s), even though updated NFO carries later timestamp; @Luke, shouldn't those be read without the need to Replace ALL metadata, as that seems way excessive for an updated metadata field or two? Solution Luke 42083 Posted May 15, 2023 Solution Posted May 15, 2023 Right if the nfo changes then just run a normal library scan.

That was expected workflow, however: 22 hours ago, GrimReaper said: Scratch that, just tested it myself: neither Scan library files nor Scan media library nor Refresh Metadata>Search for missing reads updated rating(s), even though updated NFO carries later timestamp Hence the query why it doesn't?
Luke 42083 Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 We’d have to look at a specific example but it should work just fine.

You are right (as was I initially, as I remembered it as such), when I went to produce example I noticed that I've changed wrong rating (tmdb instead of imdb) within the NFO, once correct rating changed, either Scan library files or regular Scan media library task read modified NFO and update Community Rating accordingly. 1 1
akacharos 31 Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 Thank you guys. Some movies did not update -I have to troubleshoot per content to figure out why- but indeed, just scanning the library , the ratings are updated. 1
