Incorrect identity TV shows

Emby has been working fine and identify everything fine for a while

All my shows are in folders with this naming format

Quote

{Series TitleYear} [tvdb-{TvdbId}]

And the episodes are named

Quote

{Episode CleanTitle} - S{season:00}E{episode:00} - [{Preferred Words }{Quality Full}]{[MediaInfo VideoDynamicRange]}[{MediaInfo VideoBitDepth}bit]{[MediaInfo VideoCodec]}[{Mediainfo AudioCodec} { Mediainfo AudioChannels}]{MediaInfo AudioLanguages}{-Release Group}

However lately for some reason despite the shows folder having the Tvdb ID in the folder name, emby has misidentified it for a show with a similar name if they have the same release year, for example today it misidentified a K-Drama called

Quote

Family: The unbreakable bond

Which has a release year of 2023 for another TV series called

Quote

The Family

With a 2023 release year

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to fix this or anything I could change to my naming format to fix this?

That is not correct syntax for providerid.

Quote

ID Tags in Folder & File Names

Emby can also read a Meta-Data ID from the name.

Format:

Name (Year) [tmdbid=xxxx]

Example:

Alone (2020) [tmdbid=509635]

Emby supports the following tags with the host website for lookup.

tmdbid  (https://www.themoviedb.org/)

imdbid  (https://www.imdb.com/)

tvdbid  (https://thetvdb.com/)

(Applicable to TV Shows as well).

Since its not reading your providerid, it's effectively same as if you don't have it.

For the incorrectly identified shows yes, however not for the trakt plugin marking 2 shows as watched in emby even when only one of them is marked as watched in trakt

Sorry to comment on an old and solved thread @Lukehowever I was just speaking to trash to inform them that emby uses tvdbid= instead of tvdbid- like there guide says to use in the naming formats for sonarr, so they could update it, and they asked when emby changed it from - to = as the guide they followed the instructions on the wiki while setting up the guide originally and they didn't see it anywhere in any changelogs

there was never a change. i don't recall ever supporting it with a dash. It's easy enough to add, but I'm pretty sure we've never done it before.

Ahh, it may of been some confusion of them thinking emby use to use the dash as JF uses the dash.

However there going to update their sonarr and radarr guides to the correct method of tvdbid/tmdbid/imdbid=

 @luke

i was asked if i could ask you to update https://emby.media/support/articles/TV-Naming.html as it doesn't provide the info above on how put IDs into folder names etc like the  https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html#id-tags-in-folder--file-names for movies does, Also again sorry for putting here wasn't sure whether to use this post as it relates to the above naming advice or to open a new one

I've already raised github issue for same.

Sorry to bump this old topic, but the docs mention emby supporting = and - as a separator for IDs. However the dash does not work

Is the doc wrong?

Hi, it's in the 4.8 beta channel. The doc was updated a little early, sorry for the trouble.

KB should not be updated with beta features until they make it to release version, it's misleading at best and plain wrong at the worst.

It works just fine. It assigns the moviedb id to the content being scanned in.

Working:

[imdbid-tt12345]
[imdbid=tt12345]
[tmdbid=12345]

Not working:

[tmdbid-12345]

Hi, all four work just fine but I think you need to calibrate your definition of working/not working.

What this does is simply imports the moviedb/imdb external id into your emby database for that particular item. That's how you judge whether this is working or not working.
