GoldenSpider 12 Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 I'm having issues with some series on my Emby server. where for some reason instead of naming the episodes correctly. emby will just append the next episodes name to the end of the last one. I Like so. I have no idea why it's doing that but in the folder episode 6 for example from the above image, is named in the root folder as "Stargate SG-1 Season 05 Episode 06 - Rite of Passage" if i just rename it to "Stargate SG-1 S05E06 - Rite of Passage" then it named it correctly. I really don't get why this is happening, and its quite a hassle to go through every episode and rename it
Solution GrimReaper 4749 Posted April 9, 2023 Solution Posted April 9, 2023 12 minutes ago, GoldenSpider said: Stargate SG-1 Season 05 Episode 06 - Rite of Passage That is not one of the supported naming conventions: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159110-tv-naming You can batch rename all those episodes with some 3rd party tool (FileBot, Advanced Renamer or whatever your preferred tool is).
Happy2Play 9783 Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Yes as "Season 05 Episode 06" is not a supported naming scheme so the parse choke trying to interpret it. So the 1 from SG-1 becomes Season and following numbers become episode. Episode naming conventions
Gutsberzerk 2 Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 This can also happen if you have the year (2011), (1993), etc, after each episode title.

Umm the other day I had downloaded Pretty Little Liars for the gf, season 2. All the episodes for season 2 had the same sort of naming as OPs pic, until I deleted the year for each episode then it fixed itself. I'm pretty sure this isn't the case for every tv series though, but there have been other times which is why I know to delete the year in the actual episodes.
GrimReaper 4749 Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 As said, that generally shouldn't be an issue, I have number of shows with year in title and no issues whatsoever, it likely comes down to some other factor - i.e. naming scheme used - throwing parser off, but without explicit example noone can tell you exactly.
