Heini 5 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Very often the website 'localhost:8096' is unreachable; so far today I have tried in vain to start Emby. The attempts were made with Firefox and Chrome.
Heini 5 Posted March 25, 2023 Author Posted March 25, 2023 Hello, about 30 minutes ago it worked - the Emby server is running. I would be interested to know why it happens so often that the program cannot be started, neither from the bookmark in the browser nor from the file 'EmbyServer.exe'.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Would need to see the server logs as it sounds like the server wasn't running or has crashed. How to Report a Problem
Trevor68 70 Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 You need to check the server, pretty good chance it has chewed up all your RAM and crashed.

Thanks for the tip, but at the moment the ports thing seems a bit complicated to me. In the meantime I noticed that the file 'EmbyServer.exe' starts when I open it as administrator. This again I can not understand because I am noted as administrator on the PC. I will continue to monitor this and get back to you if necessary.
Heini 5 Posted March 26, 2023 Author Posted March 26, 2023 Some things are not to understand - now I had set the file 'EmbyServer.exe' so that it is always started as administrator and on the next try this does not work this time. But the bookmark in the Firefox browser started Emby. That understands who wants...
Luke 42078 Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 Quote that it is always started as administrator and on the next try this does not work this time. Hi, what do you mean by "the next try", and what do you mean by "this does not work" ?

The server software has to be already started before you can use the web interface.
Heini 5 Posted March 26, 2023 Author Posted March 26, 2023 Hi - I had to sign off in the afternoon. In the evening I tried a login ("the next try") via the exe file, which was unsuccessful ("this does not work"). 6 minutes ago, Luke said: Just to be clear - opening the browser and pointing it to the web app url does not start the server software. Is that why the launch worked with the browser bookmark? >>> http://localhost:8096/web/index.html?#!/home
pwhodges 2012 Posted March 26, 2023 Posted March 26, 2023 Yes - In any case, there is no need to log out from the client each time. Paul
Solution Heini 5 Posted March 27, 2023 Author Solution Posted March 27, 2023 Hi, it looks like this matter is settled. I hope that there will be no further problems.
Heini 5 Posted March 28, 2023 Author Posted March 28, 2023 It looks that after Emby startup via the 'EmbyServer.exe' file, further startup attempts also work via the browser bookmark. However, I will continue to monitor this. 1
