Meta data lost

hi there,

i have created an emby server and all the movies were stored in a hard drive , in the advanced setting of the folder enabled metadata saver NFo , and save artwork into media folders. and scanned the hard drive , all meta data were stored.

then  copied the server folder to another pc , and created the library and connected the hard drive with all the movies ( with metadata stored in it) but still all metadata became missing and the server needs again to download the metadata from internet.

is there a way for the emby server to use the stored metadata from NFo file first then download the missing metadata?

thanks for the help

Hi, what exactly became missing? Can you please provide an example? Do you have nfo metadata reading enabled on the library? Where are the nfo files?

the art work  went missing (primary, logo and thumb ect ..) it is like scanning from the beginning, yes the nfo metadata reading is enabled, the nfo files are in same movie folders

is there a way like it offline scan and import data from nfo file first and use the stored saved images?

Hi.  It already does that.  Why do you think it isn't reading your local metadata?

Because it was taking long time to show the meta data ( pictures and info ) till i connectes the server to internet then it started showing

Hi.  We'd have to look at what was actually going on but that doesn't necessarily mean it wasn't reading your local metadata.

Probably need to see the server log but things can be different if you copied server from one system to another.

what do you recommend in settings (or steps) if I want to make the metadata portable ( as I have the server in 2 locations) so I get the movies on one (which has internet and save metadata in same folder then I copy all folders to portable hard drive then to the other server which has no internet

Little confused here but you should save nfo and images with media as it will always be read.  So you have your online system writing everything and your offline system read everything.

Having database/Emby local images can be problematic as they are lost with changes.

So if for example i have some movies( with nfo file and images saved from the server that is connected to internet) copied to the server that is offline does the server which is not connected to internet delete the images and nfo file or read it?

It will read the data/images stored with the media.  If not stored with media each server will require its own metadata/images.

It is saved on each movie folder or it needs to be stored some where else?
Is there an option to be selected beside  in the advanced setting of the folder enabled metadata saver NFo , and save artwork into media folders  ?

Yes those option need to enabled on the online server and all options except NFO read should be disable on offline server.

No you need NFO reader enabled to read the metadata.  You don't need anything else per library on the offline server.

In your Library settings there is a Metadata Readers>NFO and Metadata Savers>NFO section. Enable/disable checkboxes as appropriate/desired.

You're looking in the wrong place. Edit desired library (Movies, TV shows, whatever), options are located there, not in the general Library tab.
