braigo64 7 Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 I recently setup Emby as a docker container on my Unraid server. I've gotten it to the point where everything is working like it used to, except my Recordings library no longer shows anything. Turns out the folders for that library were local paths for the old server running on windows. The directory that holds my WMC recordings are shared on the network, I can access the shared directory on every computer I've tried. But when I try to add the folder to the library it fails to recognize the folder. I use the Network option, then choose the "smb:servername" option, and then in the list of shared folders that comes up (screenshot 1), I select the one with the recordings and then Emby's spinner spins for a while and then comes back the list of folders to choose from goes away and the folder input field blanks out (screenshot 2). Sometimes a pop up comes up saying the folder could not be found or something equivalent. And I can't figure out why it's having an issue accessing the folder when nothing else has an issue accessing it. embyserver.txt
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Can you use the UNC naming convention ? ie \\wondertheater\ ?
braigo64 7 Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 (edited) Nope, same issue. That's how I tried to add the folder the first time. So then I went through the menu since it seemed to at least list the available shares. Edited January 20, 2023 by braigo64
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 Hmm - if the account emby is using can read the shares - then perhaps an permissions issue on the shares stopping access ? Maybe also try to use an IP instead of the short name (to test) ..
Solution Luke 42081 Posted January 20, 2023 Solution Posted January 20, 2023 Hi, actually instead I would mount the network share to a local docker volume. Then add the local path into emby server. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
braigo64 7 Posted January 20, 2023 Author Posted January 20, 2023 Thanks Luke, can you point me to a guide for doing that?
