When my 2019 Shield detects it is plugged into a new HDMI port, it asks me if I want to enable HDR.  Why would anyone not want this enabled?

Hi, no reason that I can think of.

For the same reason some people would want their TV in 4:3.

I have a cheap TV in a secondary room that technically supports HDR but it looks terrible because the TV can't get very bright and it knocks the sound out of sync with the image.

I turn HDR off on that TV.
