FrodoBaggins 7 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Hi, I'm fairly new to Emby and having trouble with getting a series to list correctly. I was wondering if anyone could provide some advice please. My entire library has been formatted to follow the recommended naming convention as below and so far everything has been pretty flawless: \TV \Glee (2009) \Season 1 Glee - S01E01.mp4 Glee - S01E02.mp4 But I'm having trouble with an anime series called 'Psycho-Pass' which consists of three seasons and various movies, specials, etc. If I use the above file structure for the three seasons i.e. all three season folders under one 'Psycho-Pass' folder, Emby only fetches the details/artwork for the first season. Seasons 2 and 3 are shown but have the same episode names and artwork as season 1. I believe the issue is that the production company for this show used different names for each season, so: season 1 is called ''Psycho-Pass', season 2 is called 'Psycho-Pass 2', and season 3 is called 'Psycho-Pass 3'. So, I tried putting each season into its own primary folder. \Anime \Psycho-Pass Psycho-Pass - S01E01.mkv Psycho-Pass - S01E02.mkv \Psycho-Pass 2 Psycho-Pass - S02E01.mkv Psycho-Pass - S02E02.mkv This allows Emby to recognise each series correctly, however, series 1 and 2 are grouped together as a single listing on the main interface and series 3 is shown separately for some reason. Is there a way to move this season 3 entry into the main listing as a third season? Hope that makes sense - thank you for any advice! Frodo
Abobader 3470 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Hello FrodoBaggins, ** This is an auto reply ** Please wait for someone from staff support or our members to reply to you. It's recommended to provide more info, as it explain in this thread: Thank you. Emby Team
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Depending on your metadata providers setup in emby - you basically need to copy how it is setup on the provider. So if you are using tvdb (likely, unless you have changed it) - then the 'Seasons' are setup as follows - PSYCHO-PASS サイコパス - TheTVDB.com There is also the 'Order' that may need changing to match what you have (ie Aired/DVD etc) - change this on the Emby Metadata setting for that TV Show. 1
FrodoBaggins 7 Posted January 3, 2023 Author Posted January 3, 2023 @rbjtech Thank you for your response. Please bear with me as I'm new to this... You are correct, I am using TVDB as the metadata provider and I did look at the listing prior to posting in the forum. I moved all of the movies, etc into a 'Specials' folder and renamed them as per the TVDB list. This displays them inside the various seasons in the correct chronological location which is great. However, I still can't get my head around getting Emby to recognise seasons 2 and 3 correctly if they're all in the same primary folder as mentioned above. Do I need to rename the season 2 and 3 folders as shown in your screenshot with the Japanese characters? 1
rbjtech 5284 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Hmm - looks to be correct. Have you tried simply forcing a metadata refresh on the entire show ? I don't believe you would need to specify the full Season name - as the actual metadata is got from the S02Exx filename - which look perfect to me. We may need to see a log - but please try the metadata refresh first.
Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 Might be a Language thing but if you select edit image on the seasons do you get alternate image choices? What is you image provider order for the library?
FrodoBaggins 7 Posted January 3, 2023 Author Posted January 3, 2023 @rbjtech Thanks for your suggestion. I tried forcing a metadata refresh on the entire show and it didn't update anything. For example, season 2 episodes are still showing season 1 names and descriptions. @Happy2Play No alternative image choices available on any seasons. The providers enabled in the back-end for the anime library are AniDB and TheTVDB.
Solution Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 3, 2023 Solution Posted January 3, 2023 @FrodoBaggins Best guess is the Anidb is messing things up. If you disable the plugin and Refresh and replace images as episode images are crossed also, does it resolve the issue? Or you need to order TVDB over AniDB and refresh w/replace images. As it appears to be coming from that plugin and how they break them up. Psycho-Pass - Anime - AniDB
Happy2Play 9783 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 I believe Anime and plugins create issues here as the anidb breaks them up into separate shows while TVDB has them as one series. three different ids so three separate shows. Psycho-Pass - Anime - AniDB Psycho-Pass 2 - Anime - AniDB Psycho-Pass 3 - Anime - AniDB So mixing anime and normal tv can be problematic as to how the different providers are going to handle things. 1 1
FrodoBaggins 7 Posted January 3, 2023 Author Posted January 3, 2023 @Happy2Play You absolute genius! That was the issue. I amended my anime library to only fetch metadata and images from TVDB, refreshed the entire series, and it's perfect. @rbjtech Thank you both for your help! Very much appreciated. 1 2
pwhodges 2014 Posted January 3, 2023 Posted January 3, 2023 I have loads of anime, and sticking with TVDB really is the way to go. I had nothing but trouble when I tried the sources in the Anime plugin. Paul 1
