Absolute order questions

Happy new year!

I am trying to fix up my anime library and I have couple of series where there are several hundreds of episodes numbered sequentially i.e 0001,0002,...,XXXX

With the normal sort by air date and having every season in its own folder it becomes a mess as it gets confused. I saw in other threads "absolute order" mentioned so I gave it a go.

  •  With absolute order is it possible to not have all the files dumped in the same folder?

I tried having each season in each own folder so lets say  "Season 1" with eps: 0001-0070 and "Season 2" with 0071-0110 but:

  1. Season 1 included also the files from Season 2 in mangled order
  2. After some rescan attempts / switching ordering method even Season 2 ordering got messed up

Having all the files directly under Series X/ without any season folder works fine though they appear in the UI under "Season 1". Is that normal or have I messed up something?

Nope, they all have to be in the same folder, as per provider (TVDB):

Absolute ordering places all episodes in a single ordered season. This is generally used for anime.

Example: https://thetvdb.com/series/one-piece#seasons

That is normal as Emby does not flatten single season series and at least one season is always presented; you can lend your support here:
