TV sound in and out don't match

Refer to this post for the video in question and media details.  Can someone explain what I'm seeing the TV say the audio is?  I appears to me the audio is being upgraded.  If so, why?  Shouldn't Emby and the Shield just passthru to the 'everything' soundbar?  "DD+" is an upgrade, right?  "Dolby processing" on the Shield is off.

The TV system menu stats say:

  • audio in = Dolby Audio
  • audio out = Dolby Atmos - DD+

Sounds like your TV is converting it.  The "audio in" part would be what is being passed by Emby.

Why isn't Emby passing to the TV the format it is, which is Atmos:

Format                                   : E-AC-3 JOC
Format/Info                              : Enhanced AC-3 with Joint Object Coding
Commercial name                          : Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos
Format settings                          : Dolby Surround EX

BTW, the Android app (v3.2.44) croaks on this file.

How was the file created?

You said you could tell what Emby is sending out.  What did you find?

It is direct playing and sending the raw audio out - which, in this case, was DD+ (EAC3).

Well, since I'm getting out what is going in, then the TV is just not reporting the proper (complete) info for IN like it does OUT.

Has this resolved your issue?

Unless someone says my conclusion is bogus, then yes.
