djdevon3 8 Posted December 26, 2022 Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) Just reinstalled Win 10, reconfigured everything, installed emby server and theater (same PC). The server/theater is attached to a TV and I'd like it to auto launch Emby Server then into Emby Theater on any reboot. 1. After logging into Windows, Emby Server auto starts, good there. 2. I have a task setup on Logon (30 second delay) to launch C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system\Emby.Theater.exe, it works but with a caveat. 3. For some reason Firefox always opens immediately prior to Emby Theater even if the delay is 30 seconds. Emby Theater launches full screen behind Firefox which makes using a media remote controller impossible. I have to use a mouse to close firefox then click on Emby Theater to give it focus. Then the media remote works. Makes me think Emby Theater requires Firefox (a browser) to be open first? If so, how can I set a parameter within task scheduler to launch Firefox minimized? Firefox is not in my startup items. I've set in about:config for it specifically not to launch on startup, same for the Mozilla update task in task scheduler, yet somehow it does it anyway when Emby Theater launches. Even though Emby Theater launches after Firefox it does not launch on top of Firefox and take focus away from it. Firefox just sits there in front of Emby Theater. Solution Happy2Play 9781 Posted December 26, 2022 Solution Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) @djdevon3Did you disable this setting within Emby? App Settings-Settings Launch the Emby web app in my web browser when Emby Server starts This will open the web app in your default web browser when Emby Server initially starts. This will not occur when using the restart server function. Edited December 26, 2022 by Happy2Play 1
djdevon3 8 Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 Thank you. That's where it was coming from. Missed seeing that option. Now everything is launching perfectly as intended. Voila, thank you Happy2Play. 1
djdevon3 8 Posted December 26, 2022 Author Posted December 26, 2022 (edited) Tried experimenting with task scheduler startup delay times. Emby Theater definitely prefers 30 seconds after logon. Any faster, such as 15 seconds, doesn't give Emby Server enough time to fully startup and Emby Theater ends up sitting there with a spinning blue icon waiting on Emby Server to finish loading. With the 30 second delay, Emby Theater starts and loads into media view instantaneously. 30 second delay for instant load provides a better looking user experience than appearing like it's slow waiting for emby server to finish. I've also noticed with a 15 second delay most times it will ask you to select the server & or user to login which requires a user interaction slowing down the process of loading into the UI a little. However with a 30 second delay it doesn't bring up that screen and loads straight into the last user view which is a much better way to run a family room setup to a TV. 30 second delay is by far the better task scheduler arrangement.
