If I use PotPlayer as the external Player, then what is the path to the media file being played?

Hi, are you asking about what potpkayer requires or how to enter it into emby?

What I need to know is how do I enter it into emby?

But just typing in "{path}" doesn't work. Doesn't there need to be am environmental variable to point the player to the correct media file?

Works for me. That is the variable.

I still get an error message "type Error: cannot read property 'toString' of undefined' and I changed my parameters to what you suggested

Are you sure you've entered full path to the player (including executable) and not only folders?

I entered it as: C:\Program Files\DAUM\PotPlayer\PotPlayerMini64.exe

And is that the path in your system?

Yes. Now the player launches, but I get a message about "failed to start playback. Unable to connect to the requested server"

Is your media local or remote?

All my media is on local drives. Emby is set up to play internet trailers before the main attraction.

Then check your firewall settings or disable those internet trailers.

I still get the error message even when I skip the trailers and go right to the movie

Are you sure you've disabled trailers as PotPlayer shouldn't be trying to connect externally then and you shouldn't be getting "Unable to connect to the requested server" error since you're playing local content?

I disabled Cinema Intros, but the trailers still attempt to load. If I just play the trailer preview, it plays fine

If you disabled Cinema Intros, trailers should not attempt to play. Are you using some other plugin, like Vantage Point?

Did you research the potplayer command line? What did you find? Does it even support the command line arguments in this format?

After all of this I finally managed to get Emby playing files using PotPlayer, BUT it appears that the original media file isn't being played because the Dolby Digital/DTS display isn't being triggered on my receiver which implies that a stream is being played.

If you make sure the emby theater machine can directly access the path used in emby server library setup and then it will pass the original file path to the external player.

My bad 🙄...I overlooked the audio settings menu where which formats such as EAC3, DTS, DTS-HD, etc can be set for pass through. Everything working as it should. Thanks for the help.

Sorry for digging up the thread but i need help if possible.

Setup Both Machines Win 11 Pro

Emby Server

Ryzen 8600G / 32GB RAM 6400 / 1x500GB NVME 8x24TB disks / Emby Server with Emby Premiere

HTPC - MPC + MadVR

Ryzen 8600G / 32GB RAM 6400 / 1x500 NVME drive / Emby Theater

When i put the arguments emby "calls" MPC but the sound is not passed. I see only AAC in the properties of the file being played.

On the Theater machine sound formats are enabled for pass through. 3D IS NOT enabled.

The Emby external player path must be from the client machine (HTPC) OR from the server ?

How the arguments must be etered in which form ?

I just want from the Emby Theater GUI the player to 1)Open   2)Start Playing and then close and return to Emby Enviroment.

From the client machine. What arguments does MPC require to do what you want? Have you looked into that?
