season does not play - plays on IOS and Windows

Hello

I'm having a  new released 4k season which does not play without transcoding at all on current Android TV and Android Mobile Betas. They play fine on IOS and Windows.

I didn't try remuxing the episodes yet, but will do it later today.

Maybe you'd like to take a look at it @softworkz

ok these files do NOT play on vlc either. Same result after a remux with mkvtoolnix.

But as said they work on Emby Theater Windows and on IOS.

Yes indeed.

@horstepipe - I'm afraid, but something that doesn't play in VLC or that ffmpeg doesn't eat is outside of the scope where we can do anything.

How can I check whether ffmpeg „eats“ the file? I‘m just wondering as it works on other platforms and the release comes from a proper scene group.

ok sorry folks,

I tested the file on another PC with a dedicated gpu and there it works.

Soo the file works (direct plays) on:
- VLC Windows

- Emby IOS

- Emby Theater Windows

 

The file does not work (does not direct play) on:

- Emby for Android TV (tested on Shield Tube)

- Emby for Android (tested on Shield Tube)

A remux of the file does not help.

sorry chefs for marking you again but I am not sure whether you'll notice it if I edited and inserted the mark afterwards - in addition I guess that you marked that post as "done" somewhere because of my false statement about vlc

Found three more (quite new released) seasons with this behavior - I'm absolutely aware that on special cases transcoding has to be done, but afaik you want emby to be able to direct play as most as possible.

I'm happy to share more information, just tell me what.

Seasons are working now on recent android beta with updated exo.

hopefully you will update the player for android tv, too?
