Missing Media - Not all items are loading

I apologize if there is a thread for this already. I have spent hours going through and searching, but havnt found anything like my issue.

I am attempting to switch from Plex over to Emby, however Emby is not loading all the media and I cant figure out why, so any assistance is appreciated. I also have no idea what information might be needed for any assistance.

In an effort to troubleshoot I have:

  1. uninstalled and reinstalled the docker image
  2. Tried different docker versions
  3. Removed all media and added it again
  4. Run a media scan about 40 times at this point
  5. Tried to manually add the missing folders on their own and they still do not show up.

In plex I have:

372 Movies

29 TV Series

Emby loads:

342 Movies

28 Series, but not all seasons.

I am running an Unraid server and Emby in a docker using Emby official and its version 4.7.9

Hi, what is a specific example of something that you think isn't being loaded? How are your files named and organized?

Are you only determining this based on the count numbers?

@Luke Thank you for the response. I actually went through and found all the missing items. The easiest would be Movies in the screenshot you can see that both 300 movies are in Plex, but do not show up in Emby at all.

As far as TV series, Better Call Saul is missing from Emby and will not load at all. If I click on the series "The Rookie" all 5 seasons will show up in Plex and they play, but Emby will not load them at all.

As far as the naming convention.

Movies are in their own folder and all follow the same naming setup.

TV Series all the seasons are in their own folders, but the shows for the season are all in the same folder.

Just be aware that characters like ( ) and - in the filename potentially have special meaning, and this might be causing some items to be merged or treated as different versions of the same file. This is possibly not your issue, but just be aware of it

Not sure if you might need spaces in the Season folder name before the number

Have you reviewed these articles?

Not sure on the movies but does it appear if you use Search?

Shows have you checked to see if items are getting multi-versioned?

May need to see a server log after a Library scan also.

@SamES Thank you for the link and heads up. I will definitely review the missing items and their naming convention of the files to see if Emby will see them.  The part that confuses me is they all seem to follow the same formats and nothing jumps out.

In Emby, it sees only 9 of the 22 episodes.

But there are 22 files:

I know they are not all named the same and I will try changing the names.

@Happy2Play I have tried to search for them and they dont come up at all. I did think maybe they were merged with another or even removed for the collections, but I cant find them anywhere in Emby

I have attached a server log post library scan with debugging enabled.

Thank you both for the help.

Nothing stands out in the server log.

Can you test removing 300 from your library doing a library scan and then readding it and doing library scan then provide that server log.

Not sure on what is happening you TV yet.  But if multi-versioning in happening you would have to enter episodes to see if they have version drop-down boxes or grouping show at the bottom Media Info section.

Can you check file permissions and ownership of the files in the filesystem?

Follow Happy2Play's lead for 300, but for the Rookie, Season 4, can you post a listing of that folder?

ls -al "/mnt/TV Shows/The Rookie/Season4"

@Happy2Play

I checked all the episodes and seasons for anything that would show a version or extra shows being listed together and I didnt see anything.

Here is the log for the library scan once I removed 300

@Luke

Happy to announce that I figured it out. It all went wrong with the default Docker install of Emby. The default path for /mnt in the Emby install points you to individual disk /mnt/disk1/Share and not the share grouping /mnt/user/share,

image.png.3acc1c6894f5765d5f9b6218f3264aa6.png

so without thinking i chose my share "Deadpool" and continued on, but it only shows the items on that disk and not the entire pool.

Once I changed the mnt point all files were found and it works great. Thank you all for the help.

So the listing in this screenshot matches exactly what Emby has scanned, so it looks like Emby is doing the right thing

Is your earlier listing in windows, and is it the from the same folder on the same server?

What is server that the actual media files are on?   Some form of NAS? Can you do the same ‘ls -al’ listing for the same folder directly on the NAS?

I suspect you have file permission issues on the server that are not mapping through to Linux to give the server access to these files.
