New HW. Did Backup/Restore but collections missing

Did a backup of old server and tarred it. Upgraded my server to i5-10400 and installed emby server.

After that I installed all plugins, restored config and did a media scan (same hdd, same mount point).

After a while all media where there but my custom collections are empty. I assume that they disappeared due to no known media during restore.

Would it help to restore the old backup again to get collections back?

HI, what version of the server are you running?

Since the change to collections no longer using xml file with media paths, you can't backup Collections.  If you do not write metadata with media I can see how this will be an issue and you have to maintain a full backup of the entire Emby programdata folder as you need original database containing all the relevant info linking.

I still have access to old server. I just did a "systemctl disable emby-server". The old server was running same version 4.8.0.16beta. Is there a way to copy old library database to new server? And would i've than problems with "skip intro" and "thumbnail images"? Would they be generated again with a scan?

@MrWGT13 What platform?  But you need Emby's entire programdata folder as the database need all additional files.

So you lose anything on the new setup that has been done and gain everything you had on previous server.

I'm using lubuntu as base and had installed with dpkg -i the same way on both machines. Even the media is on the same mount.Which directory should I copy?

I don't know this platform but in a server log you will see Data Path as that contain all config/setup info.

Example

Data path: /var/lib/emby

Lubuntu is ubuntu with a different window manager and smaller footprint.

Stopped emby, moved emby to emby.old, copied emby folder from old machine and after new start collections where there :)
