vult2k 2 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 Would it be possible to release a version of Emby Server compiled for Windows ARM64? I am currently running the AMD64 version on Windows 11 using emulation and while it mostly works, there are some performance issues particularly when I'm recording from OTA box.
vult2k 2 Posted August 23, 2022 Author Posted August 23, 2022 It's a Windows 11 (Arm) VM running on macOS via Parallels Desktop.
Luke 42979 Posted August 23, 2022 Posted August 23, 2022 OK, yea we can certainly put it on out list of things to explore. I'm sure it's doable. Thanks.
HyperLifelike 2 Posted February 17, 2025 Posted February 17, 2025 (edited) IS there any progress on this? Emby theater does not work with x64 emulation, it would be great to get a native ARM64 build. I'm on Surface Laptop 7. With windows pushing ARM more and more this is becoming more and more relevant. Edited February 17, 2025 by HyperLifelike 2
HyperLifelike 2 Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 Is there a decision on this? Is it in progress or planned for the near future? I am on a Snapdragon X12 Elite Surface Laptop 7 with Windows Arm. I am using the Emby app from the Microsoft store, which does not work.
Luke 42979 Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 Hi, I don't have an ETA but it's definitely something we can look at in the future. Thanks.
HyperLifelike 2 Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 OK thank you. Do you mean it is not actively being looked at? Sorry it just sounds a bit ambiguous. You did say the same 3 years ago. In fairness, I think we are already in the future.
Luke 42979 Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 We are not actively working on it right now, but given enough user demand it is certainly something we can do.
Malmoth 4 Posted 51 minutes ago Posted 51 minutes ago (edited) Just stepping in to link this forum post here: As I mentioned in that thread as well, having bought a Snapdragon laptop, I personally don't see myself going back to AMD64 for a laptop in the future. Just as I'm sure I'll stick with AMD64 for my desktops for sheer performance, I'm sure I'll be sticking with ARM64 for my laptops for sheer battery life, especially when things are running native. It really would be great to have a native ARM build of the client for Windows as well. Or should I open a separate feature request for that? Edited 48 minutes ago by Malmoth
