Caddyman 0 Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 I am running an unRaid server with Emby in a docker version 4.7.6.0. I have MKV files for movies that I embed the cover art and I only use the embedded data. Since the last update any new movies added don't display the cover art. I moved one movie that had cover art displaying properly to a new folder and the cover art is now missing. I refreshed the metadata and cover art, and it is still missing. I then had it replace the metadata and now a lot of cover art is missing.
Luke 42078 Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Hi there, can you please go over an example? Thanks.
Caddyman 0 Posted August 16, 2022 Author Posted August 16, 2022 Using a window 11 machine and Make MKV I rip a movie, the best audio track, and subtitles. I then use MKVToolNix to embed the cover art (A jpeg named cover). I then move the file to my unraid server. The only movie image fetcher I use is screen grabber. It has been working great for me up until very recently. Only the last few movies I added have had an issue of not displaying cover art. Older movies that were displaying properly have lost their cover art with a complete refresh of metadata.
Luke 42078 Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 OK please try refreshing the metadata on that video, and if there is still an issue after that then please attach the emby server log. Thanks.
Caddyman 0 Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 A refresh on a movie metadata did not bring back the cover art. I attached the emby log. embyserver.txt

Caddyman 0 Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 I tried it on Zootopia, that is one of the movies that had the cover art showing before I ran a metadata scan with the replace metadata box checked.
Luke 42078 Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Can you provide a sample video for testing? Thanks.
Caddyman 0 Posted August 18, 2022 Author Posted August 18, 2022 I was preparing a 10 sec MKV video clip for you last night and embedded a cover image. Before I uploaded it, I decided to test it on the server. The cover showed up. I even deleted the image in Emby and had it re-search for meta data and it pull the cover again. The last 4 movies I have added it did not work plus now lots of old ones that were showing an image are not now after a metadata replacement. I am wondering if something is corrupted on my end. I tired uninstalling the Emby docker but that did not help. I removed Emby again and found and deleted the entire embyserver folder that stores the cache and settings. I will try and get it all re-setup tonight and report back.
Caddyman 0 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 I completely wiped Emby and the cache. I rebuilt the media library of my movie folder. Except for the test clip I made to upload to you the only cover art that is showing up is for DVD's. The Blu-ray's and 4k Blu-ray's covers are not working. All three of the formats were done using the same software and many of them worked for years now. It is odd the media data shows an image. I attached photos of the movies section screen as an example and the media data for a DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Blu-ray.
Luke 42078 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 What do you mean by rebuilt the library? What do you mean by wiped the cache?
Caddyman 0 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 I uninstalled the Docker from unRaid then went into my cache drive and deleted the embyserver folder. I then reinstall the Emby docker, when through the setup process. Added my movie folder on unRaid, and Emby ran the metadata for the new folder. I started it this morning and made sure it was no longer running when I got home to know it completed.
Caddyman 0 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 When you added new media Emby scans it for file information including screen grabber to get the cover art. Maybe I am wording it poorly.
Caddyman 0 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 This is what I was referring to about the emby docker I uninstalled and reinstalled and the cache folder I deleted (the docker removal does not remove the folder).
Luke 42078 Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Is this our official docker image from here: https://emby.media/docker-server.html ?
Caddyman 0 Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 unRaid has an app section. The one labeled installed had the official banner in the corner as well before I installed it.
Caddyman 0 Posted August 20, 2022 Author Posted August 20, 2022 I got the cover art working by rolling back to Emby server version 4.6.7.0. In the screen shots the moves contain dvd, bluray, and 4k bluray mkv files all displaying correctly. I know I am probably more of a fringe case for embedding my cover art, but support for this feature in one of the main reasons I purchased this great product.
Caddyman 0 Posted August 22, 2022 Author Posted August 22, 2022 Luke, have you been active the last couple of days? I found out what I believe to be some useful information that I put in my last two posts.
x2desmit 7 Posted August 22, 2022 Posted August 22, 2022 I'm using Linux and I feel I'm having a similar issue, though it's not cover art, it's related to metadata being missed for episodes. Library scans will see the new show, and cover art is updated, but no episode information is populated. When other seasons of the same show (i.e. How It's Made) did fine with updating. This is true of several new shows I have uploaded since updating to 4.7.6.0

Luke 42078 Posted August 25, 2022 Posted August 25, 2022 @x2desmit can you provide this info so that we can help resolve your issue? Thanks !
Solution x2desmit 7 Posted August 25, 2022 Solution Posted August 25, 2022 Hey, sorry I didn't get back to you. As I said, this worked fine for a while. All shows and episodes updated fine when added. Happy2Play's request caused me to go and look at the Library itself. I found that all Library providers for Episode Metadata Downloaders had been unchecked. Which is apparently why it knew about a series and pulled artwork, but some information, like episode metadata information, was missing. I'm wondering if a recent plugin upgrade caused the problem and not 4.7.6.0. I did NOT uncheck Library providers, I'm 100% positive of that. So I checked all the providers, re-scanned the library, and everything populated. Thank you for reaching out to check!! I love this product. 1
