Same problem here on 2 different Macs.

What I found out is if I let the Dev Toolbar (with disable cache) open it runs just fine, so it my be a cache bug.

I'm finding that any minor corruption in mkv file causes a movie to stop. I'm using emby on Sony TV. Synology drive running emby server. This happens also on Nvidia shield when playing over WAN.

If I go to my windows machine and use VLC I can visually see corrupted artifacts but recovers and plays fine. It's just emby can't seem to recover in this situation.

I think that's the third topic opened about that issue :( Seems like more and more people are experiencing it on safari.

This is still happening of course (no server updates since before). Is anyone working on this? Feels like I need to give up on Emby soon.

Hi, can you please try Emby for macOS 2.2.9 and let us know how that compares? Thanks.

The issue is related to safari playback

I am able to replicate this issue consistently on a single song I have which skips in almost the same place every time, and per @seofood's suggestion the issue goes away when I open up the console and disable the cache.

Was there audio transcoding occurring, or direct playing?

All direct play, FLAC.

I initially thought the issue was with my video files. When I play a .mkv file directly, the playback intermittently stops as if the server connection is temporarily lost. This issue occurs only with Safari and the Mac Emby app, while it plays fine on Chrome.

I'll check if it's caused by reverse proxy and add the information.

It was alleviated after changing my nginx settings, but it still happens.

Here is my playback log.

And here's what I tested for this issue.

The nginx settings are the same as in the post below.

1. This issue happens regardless of whether you are connecting directly through the server ip or not.
2. it happens regardless of whether you are playing directly or transcoding.
3. I suspected an issue with HDD power saving, so I used an SSD, but it still happens.
4. I suspected an internet issue, but it happens locally as well, and ping test results are normal even while playback freezes.

5. the same thing happens on my Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
6. It plays fine in chrome with no stuttering at all.

when it stops playing, if I wait for a while, it resumes playing again.

Update: The issue has been resolved - it was a router issue. Sorry for messing up the post.
