rekit 16 Posted April 19, 2022 Posted April 19, 2022 I plan to use the same external drive with my current Emby library on it and just plug it into the NAS via usb 3.1. This is my first time using a NAS and I’m looking for the simplest way to keep everything intact and not lose all my metadata, etc. Is there anything I should know before I start, or any guides for this type of server migration?
Solution Luke 42078 Posted April 19, 2022 Solution Posted April 19, 2022 Hi there, please take a look at this and let us know if it helps: https://support.emby.media/support/solutions/articles/44001159936-backup Thanks.
rekit 16 Posted April 19, 2022 Author Posted April 19, 2022 Thanks Luke, that looks like it should do the trick
rekit 16 Posted April 22, 2022 Author Posted April 22, 2022 It worked pretty well. The only issues I had were my own fault (some of the artwork I was using for certain library items was in a different folder on my desktop rather than on the NAS drive, so I had to re-map that artwork manually. No biggie. For anyone else planning to do this, I'd definitely recommend trying to keep the folders of data that emby accesses - whether its metadata, cache, artwork, media, etc - all under one parent "emby" folder in case you need to move things around. I had some things on an SSD, some on one HDD, some on another HDD... bad planning on my part.
