Multi-part movies play status gets confused

This happens in the web app and ATV.  There are multiple issues, like part 1 shows part 2 play time, and as the title of this post says.  Emby gets confused between the two videos.  It is like Emby tries to keep the play status of both in sync, but it should not.

I have some movies that are multiple videos.  If I partially play the second video, e.g.:

The first video thinks it has already been partially played:

Here is another way to show the confusion.  Zero both back to 'not played'.  Play the first one completely:

Now start playing the second part - but wait!  Emby already thinks it has been played:

Now if you actually start playing it a bit then back at the library page part 2 shows partially and completely played

Hi.  For the best results, we suggest merging the two files together.  This is fairly easy to do nowadays.  Is there a reason you have not done that?

Your layout would have them as two separate items per your images even though they are one as they both would have the same providerids so played/resume will be problematic as they are tracked by providerids.

Technically they should be in the same folder and part 2 shows as Additional part on part 1 item details page.

Didn't think about merging them.

Can you elaborate?  I don't understand.

Here is the kb page, see the split video file section.  Both parts should be in the same folder

Ben-Hur (1959)

Ben-Hur (1959)-pt1.mkv

Ben-Hur (1959)-pt2.mkv

Emby Movie Naming : Emby

See what you get once you organized them correctly, but as ebr said combining them will get you the best results from all clients.  Mkvtoolnix is great for combining into a single mkv if you want
