Windows 10 21H2 (up to date)
Chromium browser 100.0.4896.60 (latest as of this morning)
Emby 4.6.7.0 (latest stable)

I have had this issue in the past and for the life of me I cannot remember how I fixed it. This is happening in Chromium as well as Microsoft Edge (Chromium based.) I will try to explain it below.

I am navigating to http://localhost:8096 and/or the IP on my network. Neither is resolving. They show the Emby splash quickly and then it goes immediately to the "new tab" page. Emby server itself is working fine. I just cannot get to the dashboard due to this issue. In the phone app on Android everything is working. In my Roku device everything is working. I have tried Min browser and it works there as well. Something with Chromium based browsers. This happened in the past a few times. Can someone shed light on what this might be?

Note: I have disabled plugins in the browser. The issue was present yesterday already before I updated the browser today. I downloaded the portable server again and replaced the "system" folder with my current and then restarted the server. I cleared all of the cookies and site data for all time on Chromium. I don't use Edge so there was nothing to do there I just wanted to make sure to try an alternate browser. I wanted to ensure I did my part first before asking in here.

Thank you,
Michael

Hi that's strange. Never heard of that before. Perhaps caused by a browser option or extension?

Sounds like your browser has a different URL stored in it's Cache and since a link ending in :8096 is not a standard URL, the browser finds the last URL that starts with your localhost link and adds in the link that last worked.  You can get to the menu page by entering the full correct link: http://localhost:8096/web/index.html#

To stop this from happening again, you need to clear your cache.  There is a shortcut for Chrome. From any browser page click [Shift]  [Ctrl]  [del] together.

Hope that helps.

visproduction,

Thank you! What helped is the full URL you provided. It actually turns into http://localhost:8096/web/index.html#!/index.html when I click on the link you provided.

This has happened before a couple of times but I've always used http://ipaddress:8096 and I don't have any other servers running on this machine where I would use localhost. I had already turned off all my add-ons/plugins. I had already cleared all my cache and cookies yesterday. Its very odd. Thank you again for the idea of the full URL as a way to force it to open.

Michael
