Emby has started showing Thumb instead of Primary images in folders

Hello,

I started Emby this evening and found a lot of images missing or replaced by Thumb class images where Primary images usually are. I went into the Edit Images section and found the images were not llsited and had to be searched for as if from scratch. Seems a lot of data has disappeared. OI deleted a Windows PC libray containing my external drives, that may have something to do with the problem. I'm going to try rebuilding that  PC library.

The folder images/icons are poker card shaped. The movie3 files image/icon are banner shaped and show up as Thumb class images in the image search.

The attached images illustrate the problem. The Amadeus movie images are a before and after example. Prior to this, all images were of the Primary type, and present. No blanks and no Thumb 'banners'. If I cannot solve the pro blem, can I initiate an automated rescan of all libraries without deleting the Emby libraries?

Hello,

I finally ran across and tried the "Scan Library Files."

I still wonder why the images seemed to get mixed up.

Hi, what exactly got mixed up? It looks to me like images when missing from your drive, and so the server displayed what was available, which wasn't much.

Then of course later it got restored. Does that sound right?

Sounds like Emby lost connection to Media and has not rescanned to show proper images.

My guess is the drives hub disconnected (as sometimes happens when I remove the laptop from the dock, for portable use) and the program used images on the root drive which are probably the' Thumb' class images. I discovered this when I ran the 'Edit images' option. The thimb images were being used instaead of the Primary images. When I ran the Scan Library Files option, the program re-directed image collection back to the hub and its drives. Apparently, the program doesn't do a periodic check for restoration of a library connection on a different drive. But, yes, that's more or less descriptive.

Hi, the server does have a periodic library scan, and you can adjust the schedule for that in the scheduled tasks section.

I believe that's what happened. Read my following response to Luke.

Do I need to quit Emby, including the taskbar app, before removing my laptop from the dock? All drives are attached to the dock.

The thing to keep in mind is that Emby Server can handle your external drive disconnecting. Your library will still be there, and when you plug it back in, you'll still be able to play just as normal.

The one thing Emby Server doesn't do (yet), is store complete copies of your images in it's internal folders, so that's the reason why this ends up happening, because if the drive isn't there then there may not be an image available to show.

I've answer my own question.

If I focus more, I can usually weed out unnecessary questions and answer the others myself.
