Is there a secret button 😆 somewhere so I can lock all my metadata in one fell swoop?

Are you saving NFOs with your media?

Use Notepad++ "Find in Files" on your Movies/TV Shows parent folder and replace all

<lockdata>false

 with

<lockdata>true

on all NFOs in one swoop.

Use to be able to do this via Metadata Manager on the library but it was removed at library level.  Still exists at folder level so depending on your setup it could be possible.

But there should be a method in the API also.

That's awesome thank you!  Worked perfectly.

Wil that also lock down my image art?

Now when is the shuffle going to be fixed or reworked so I'm not watching the exact same tv episode all the time.  LOL

I was told a while ago that it was a known thing.

Not sure under which scenario that would apply, as images are always sorta "locked" unless you manually/deliberately select to "Replace existing images" when Refreshing metadata. As long as one doesn't tick that option, it should be fine. However, note that AFAIK there's still unaddressed issue where Refreshing Metadata with Replace existing images on a locked item results in all existing artwork being removed/deleted and no new ones scraped/downloaded, so you might wanna pay particular attention there. Editing images and selecting new will always result in particular artwork type being overwritten, regardless whether item is locked or not.

Alright so I wasn't aware of the this issue.   When you say "...all existing artwork being removed/deleted..." do you mean just for that item or my whole library?
Here's my scenario which happens once in a while.  A new movie gets added to my library.  It's recognized as something else due to a naming error.  I find the movie on IMDB, and enter the movie id manually and save.  Now because the current images are incorrect, when I choose "refresh metadata" I also check the replace existing images button.  I then go back in and select the artwork of my choosing.

For the item(s) you are Refreshing metadata+Replacing images; if you do it on a single item - only that one will be affected, if multiple - all of them will be. Note that that apply to locked item(s) only.

Ok perfect.  I never do it through the main folder cause that's asking for trouble.  LOL  Appreciate the insight.

Just use three-dot menu>Identify with Replace existing images, you'll get right artwork without the need to go back and change all manually. Then you can fine tune to your liking.
